Shipley Do-Nuts — Restaurant in Converse

I usually stop in here every now and again. I love the sausage, egg, and cheese kolaches. The customer service is very good just at every time I come in. The workers are nice and courteous and a few are humorous (which is kind of good to experience in the morning for me). I have one concern that was actually quite amusing. There’s false advertisement. There are signs on both the inside and outside window that state if you order ANY kolache and ANY donut together the price is 4 dollars. The word ANY is in red as if specifying any kind of kolache and donut is included in the advertisement. I ordered a kolache and an apple fritter, my price was almost 6 dollars. I thought maybe it was the taxes so I said thank you and left . I got in my car and looked at my receipt and saw it wasn’t tax that caused it to be six dollars but I’d been charged the full price for both items. I went back in and asked why my price was what it was when the sign said any kolache with any donut is 4 dollars. I was told by the cashier that apple fritters are not included. Ever since I was a child (I’m in my 40s now) an apple fritter was a donut lol. I just laughed and said ok. It was amusing how I’d been scammed. I don’t mind it because of the money but the principle. I’m very big business ethics So I wouldn’t say I wouldn’t recommend this store to anyone I’d just say be very mindful about any advertisements they have as they don’t seem to be truthful and are a bit deceptive. First time trying this place out. The guy didn't know what he was doing. I gave him a rewards card that I just got and he said they didn't take it. I also asked for a salted caramel frappe and he didn't know if it came with whipped cream but then he said they didn't have any how can you have a coffee shop that sells frappe and no whip cream. Not a good place. donuts tasted old and not fresh and the Manager, a younger guy was being unkind to a newer employee. This placed just opened and I dont recommend it. Just go to the Walmart next door. They make better donuts. They have a now open sign in front of the building. Its not that we don't know its open, nobody wants...
