I am putting three stars because this was from October 14, 2023.
I have been meaning to do this specific review because I was pretty disappointed with the food.
My band and I were at a marching band competition in Conway, SC. We were told by our band director that we had three options for food.
The options were...
The Grilled Cheese Truck
The Jamaican Food Truck
or
The Concession Stands
So, the majority of us said "YES" to the second option, Jamaican Food (Because who doesn't like Jamaican food?! It is so delicous!).
Understandably, there were a lot of people outside lining up for these two food trucks. So, of course we knew there would be a long wait time.
But, after waiting around 40-50 minutes overall in being in the line, ordering my food, and receiving it. In the end, I decided that it was not worth the wait.
I am fine if I have to wait for good food; but, when I got back to my seat, I saw what was inside my two containers.
I wasn't really upset about the Jerk Chicken pasta, I was hungry. But, I was very upset with the Caribbean Fries and the side of Mac & Cheese.
Firstly, the Mac & Cheese didn't even taste like Mac & Cheese. It tasted like the pasta from the Jerk Chicken pasta. If they ran out of the actual Mac & Cheese, they should of told us it was out.
The Caribbean fries had this sauce on it that I wasn't really fond of. I usually get Cabbage, Mac & Cheese, and Oxtail when I eat Jamaican food. So this was my first time ever having fries with my order.
The pricing and the wait did not meet the quality of the food.
But, for the two or three people working really hard in the food truck. I commend you for feeding all of us who were VERY hungry. ❤️
I also liked my beverage that I chose! It was something mango related and mangoes are my FAVORITE snack!
Other than that, I hope this was just a rare occasion that you all had to "make do" with...
Read moreIf you're having any doubts about trying this place, abandon them and go visit it! They have a large menu sure to appease anybodies taste buds, and even stuff for the kids! I had the fish a chips while my partner had the jerk chicken sandwich and we both shared a side of mac and cheese. The fish was seasoned amazingly and the chicken was juicy and tender, while the bun was soft and warm. The fries had their signature Caribbean Jerk sauce on them and it was the most delicious sauce I've ever had on fries, my partner is a bit spice intolerant but even they found it very enjoyable. The mac and cheese came out extremely hot but after it cooled down a bit it was amazing, and had a distinct onion flavour which was a very nice accent. You can definitely tell everything is made fresh as everything comes out hot after a short wait. I additionally tried the pineapple ginger drink which was amazing, it even included a small wedge of fresh pineapple. The staff was kind and attentive and you can tell the chef is cooking with love. The bill came to about $50 after tip, and we left full but not stuffed. Overall an amazing experience and I will be...
Read moreI don't want to slaughter them in this review, because it's good to have a Jamaican restaurant in the area. The food was just a little pricey for the portions. The curry goat was ok but not ram goat. The oxtail at 25.00 a plate was tender, but not seasoned well and a very small portion. The young lady who took our order, was working the cash register, gathering food and for forgetting things. She was very pleasant she just needed help. They need to get the system down better. It needs a better flow. Especially during lunchtime. We ordered ice cream and told her we wanted it while we waited. Instead of ice cream while we waited we waited for our ice cream. We had to ask for it when we were leaving. Oh, please get more carry out utensils!!! The one that they are currently using all they do is bind. You can't enjoy your meal at all period your mind is well eat with...
