Beware! Beware! Poor customer service. Owner Chris Snyder does not understand good customer service and instead places blame of the establishment on the customer. A recent visit had us receiving an entree instead of the appetizer we "clearly" ordered and charged the full price. Chris not only refused to come to our table that evening but he refused to take any of our calls when we attempted to follow up with him as the "only" option that the evening manager could offer us. In a response to my first review, Chris blamed us for not bringing it to the attention of the server, the one who delivered our meals and/or the manager who "supposedly" made rounds. Nobody came back to our table after the meal was delivered and we had started eating discovering their error. Our server finally came back at the end to fill only some of our drinks even though it was obvious we were done. The server refused her error, the manager claimed he had no authority and the owner blames the customer.

BE AWARE! Food good, customer service not. An evening out with friends got in us and seated in the bar area of Crooked Oak Tavern. Interior was dark, open area with a lots of hard surfaces like cement floor, wood beams, exposed ductwork, wood tables and chairs that exasperated the noise level. Jessica was our server and she informed us of the specials and took our drink orders. We soon ordered and the food followed shortly afterwards. My wife ordered the “seared scallops” which is an appetizer, not the “seared cold water scallops” that is a main entree per the menu. When the food arrived we had just started to eat when my wife noted to us that her appetizer was supposed to be on a sweet potato nest, not the smoky prosciutto gouda risotto she received. Later, when we received the bill and saw that we were served and charged the wrong item and finally got Jessica back to our table she put the blame on us for not specifying. Even though my wife used “their” menu item titles specifically, as I noted above. We then spoke with the manager Kyle and after explaining to him he asked why we didn’t address the issue right away. Especially when we became aware of the different item that it was served on. I nicely informed him that we would have but our server never returned to ask us how our food was and/or if we needed drink refills. Just prior to our bill being delivered she made one pass to fill only the two glasses on the end. Never spoke to us and by then we had nearly completed our meal. Kyle was understanding but had no authority as a manager to correct any wrongs. All we were given was a business card of owner/chef Chris Snyder. I do give three stars for my BBQ Chicken with two twin airline chicken breasts glazed with their own house made barbecue sauce served with a side of creamy, crusty Mac N Cheese and Old Bay French fries. Kudos to the chef. Good food and presentation. Note: Numerous attempts and left messages for Chris Snyder have not been returned. I guess customer service needs to...

This was my first ever visit to the Crooked Oak Tavern. Mae, our wait staff person was great. She greeted us with a little history of the restaurant and the owners' reason for great ingredients. The restaurant recently moved locations, and i did not know the interior at the old establishment. The new location had a homey, old-fashioned tavern feel, kind of like those old westerns your Granny watches. Let's get to the best part... the food! We ordered the Fried green tomatoes with roasted pepper aioli, the crunch of the breading used was perfect, the tangyness of the tomatoes came through and made me think of my great grandma on a Sunday afternoon preparing hers for family dinner (you get five slices and we ate them so fast i didnt think of a photo..sorry). We also ordered the Old and Dirty Myrtle Fries with cheese and bacon (again so delicious forgot to snap a photo), the fries are cut steak fries with a spicy drizzle of the Dirty Myrlte Beer and Old Bay Seasoning, the flavors of the two are a great combination and you couldn't just taste one fry, you had to have at least 6 lol. Now, for entrees, I ordered the 22oz Kansas City Cut cooked medium well as they tend to cook their steaks a little cooler, and it was perfect for me. The spiced rub used to season the steak was just the right amount of spice without burning out your tastebuds. And don't get me started on the melt in your mouth goodness of the meat itself. It will make you slap your Mama! It was served with mashed potatoes and French green beans, they were good but my mind was on my steak! The others in the group ordered the grouper, nice, tender flaky crust with a little less desirable rice medley, and again French greens beans, another ordered the half rack ribs, which he said was just a tad dry but delicious. Said the slaw was not as good as he hoped. Overall, I'm giving Crooked Oak Tavern ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for my food. I must mention it is best to call for reservations, we reserved for 4:30pm with about 4 or 5 tables occupied. Within an hour, they became very busy! We didn't check out the bar Mae told us about, with leather recliners and a leather couch...we will next time! Overall, I will be back, I want to try those Maryland Crab Cakes and the Scallops! Y'all get on down here for a delicious date night, girls' night or guys night... or family get-together... you will not be...

Great welcome, service and food. Highly recommend!! Here's my experience if you need more info ... Our first dining experience at the Crooked Oak Tavern in Conway, SC was a win! We decided at the last minute to change our scheduled anniversary dining venue to the Crooked Oak Tavern. I used "OpenTable" to make a reservation for only a few hours later. OpenTable allowed me to indicate it was for my anniversary... No other special requests were made. I honestly, thought this was for data tracking more than anything else. However, my wife thought I must have spared no expense (let's not tell her I only checked "anniversary") when we arrived to be welcomed by the staff. More than one person told us happy anniversary and not only that, but the hostess, in coordination with someone else (maybe manager/owner??), to locate us a very private table. Although the menu is a bit expensive, the food options are diverse and typically not available at other restaurants. My amazing wife (“I hope she’s reading think …insert wink emoji here”) ordered “Scallops served over smoky prosciutto gouda risotto” and I ordered the Bison Ribeye (medium). Service was great and food was cooked as requested. Although the Bison Ribeye had a great taste, the texture was more in line with sirloin than a more tender cut of meat. However, the Scallops were amazing and likely the best food on the table was the prosciutto gouda risotto. It was the best I have ever tasted and I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I ate a good portion from my wife’s plate. We had no intention of eating dessert, but not only did we receive great service in the beginning, Crooked Oak tavern ended our meal with a complimentary slice of blueberry cheese cake. Moreover, they gave us an anniversary card! To sum it up, the food is great, the atmosphere is nice, and the Crooked Oak Tavern customer service program is on-point. Thank you for providing us a special evening with my very...

May (sp?) was our server and she was wonderful 😊 Above and beyond. Atmosphere is welcoming, earthy, but also somehow elegant. Food is farm-to-table, fresh, delicious, and served in fairly generous portions. Bonus! >> there is a spectacular bar/lounge (and add'l eating area) hidden like some kind of Speak Easy. Absolutely gorgeous. The drink menu is a dang book because there's so much to choose from. COT also features their own craft bourbon....and they have drinks with THC and CBD !! The only two "cons" I noticed were (1) The main dining area is very, very dim--yellow lighting. But very welcoming and cozy🌹 It just made it a little difficult to read the menu, etc Not a huge deal. (2) I think it's a bit sad they don't serve some type of table bread with butter.... something inexpensive, easy and simple like that gives the impression of graciousness and generosity, and adds to that welcoming feeling. Many restaurants are famous for their pre-meal fare. COT owners/management appear to be so creative and upper -notch that I believe they could come up with something people would talk about ... ex: "Have you tried COT's homemade bread and fresh farm herb butter they serve before your meal??" Anyway, those two things are fairly minor. My husband and I--we were out on a date--were very pleased with the entire experience❤️Would and will definitely recommend.
