This is Conway's gem. Besides the beauty on Saturday they have a farmer's market under the bridge. It's a shame Conway doesn't provide a pavilion for these vendors and their citizens who support them. A few years ago in a open brick building it was a happening scene. Music, wine tasting, multiple vendors with crafts, cooking, fruits, vegetables and a lively and friendly atmosphere every Saturday morning. Then they threw the vendors into a field of high grass, no shelter from the elements and bugs. Half of the vendors never came back and it is a sad remnant of it's former self. Conway needs to embrace, support and grow this opportunity to bring people downtown to shop and eat. Winter Garden Florida is a similar town who's Saturday morning farmer's market is now a destination. They built a great open pavilion to a house the farmer's market. They have dozens of vendors and hundreds of attendees. Food booths, crafts, music, a splash pad for kids to play in and it's amazing. Conway Recreation please make this the wonderful happening scene it was becoming a couple years ago. Give this the facilities and space downtown it deserves. Use this to enhance the traffic to downtown Conway and bring residents together. People will wonder the retail shops and eat breakfast and lunch at the restaurants. It will be amazing...
Read moreHaving read in the local rag about Conwy River Walk. Sandy and I decided to check it out. A twenty minute ride from M.B. It was a beautiful sunny day.Not many people in parking lot, free. Cameras in hand we entered the marsh walk. What a beautiful vison, blue river below us. Across the river a wall of green speekled with flowers and trees that seemed to bow into the river. The walk is made of sturdy solid wood the railing is just as well built. Some small boats passed, full of people and laughing children. As Sandy and I continued on. There was a landing dock, up ahead. Several were tied up. I found out why. WOW restaurants right on the river. We of course were hungry (I always am) Out side dining, and in. We went in a wide open county style place. Everyone seemed friendly. Great food, some of the menu you will not find anywhere else. What a delight. My lady and I had a great day out. I would highly recommend the CONWAY RIVER WALK. IF your young or older like My Sandy&Me you will have a blast. Don't forget your camera. You will have some nice memories of your side stop at (CONWAY...
Read moreThere's a part of me that loves this place, and a part of me that doesn't understand the hype. When you google things to do in and around Myrtle Beach, the riverwalk is on the list. As a local, I'll let tourists know I'm not sure it's worth going out of the way for. But if you're already exploring downtown Conway or out this way or within 30 minutes of this way; sure.
I love it because it really is beautiful. The pathways are great for all ages, group varieties, and fitness levels. Everything is accessible and easy.
On the flip side, I don't understand the hype because it's your typical riverwalk. Any other walking trail or hike is going to be just as beautiful.
I'll be honest, as a local maybe I'm just over it or taking it for granted because it's the only thing to do around here and the only walk I feel okay taking my dog to. Waccamaw and other such trails, I worry about alligators. Here, there's so much activity it's not as much of a concern.
Honest review: worth the visit if you're in the area; but I don't know that I'd go out of...
