To start with the positives, Kelly’s Fusion is not a “run of the mill” chain restaurant. It’s aesthetically eclectic, showcasing a larger than life lucky cat directly outside the front door and the inside is adorned with other cultural motifs. The location, inside and out, is well maintained and the staff are courteous. Also, I should mention that I am vegan and gluten free (not by choice). So, a big positive for Kelly’s is that it is one of the few places in Conyers that is accommodating for people with this type of life style.
On to the the negatives. While the food is delicious yesterday I ordered online at Kelly’s and my order was not correct. Specifically, I asked for a half lettuce/half brown rice poke bowl, but in the special request section, I asked the cook’s to go light on the rice. For $11.25, I received a bowl with hardly anything in but tofu and no lettuce at all! To make matters worse, I’m not a fan of shredded seaweed and thus, naturally, I asked for none and still received it?
I’m writing this review because this is actually the second time I ordered Kelly’s online and received the incorrect order. After arriving home, I called Kelly’s about my order, and unfortunately I felt the accommodations offered to rectify the situation were not customer oriented. I was told that I could go online if I wanted a refund yet there’s no place online to initiate a refund (if you checked out as a guest). Since I didn’t want to drive back, I ate the meal as prepared (after removing the seaweed, of course).
Back to the positives, the tofu was perfectly cooked, with a light pan seer on the outside to add texture. The brown rice and toppings (edamame, onion, avocado, cucumber) I was received served as a nice compliment to the tofu. Plus, the service was timely! There’s definitely something to be said for that. No one wants to wait longer than usual to pick up.
In general, Kelly’s is a good place to eat when you need a quick but healthy meal on the fly, if they get your order correct! You will definitely have a better experience dining in the restaurant, rather than ordering take out online, which I will never do again, but with such great prices and good food, it’s definitely worth it. Go ahead! Just call your order in...
Read moreFood - Pretty good poke!
Wish there was a more apparent child’s menu, versus having to pay full price for a bowl for my kid. Because $9, is a lot for chicken and rice. The soups are $11+. At least they threw in free miso soup with each poke bowl! Not sure if that’s a temporary promo thing, or all the time. Typical miso. Though a little on the bland side for me.
Environment - I don’t quite get the decor. It’s a poke place, that also serves ramen soup, and a variety of desserts. I feel like I’m sitting in a bougie dessert cafe - not about to eat a poke bowl. The chairs have dessert print all over them and the booths and chairs are white, pink, and yellow. There’s two Asian decor influences that I saw - a giant lucky cat outside and some jade frog statue by the door just inside (don’t touch it, it’s wobbly). The music was some kind of Asian remix, with some English words here and there - which I was a bit flabergasted hearing the f*ing a$$ word a number of times. Like...what? Someone might want to recheck their music that’s played.
Prices - kind of what I expected. But I’m let down there isn’t any kid options.
Quantity vs Quality - feeling a little on the underserved side when I saw the scoops of meat I chose. Having to get 3, though, I feel each bite had sufficient meat to rice ratio. Quality was definitely there, though. Salmon was fresh, spicy tuna not really spicy at all, eel sauce (yay!), avocado good, crab salad, seaweed salad nice and crunchy - all was good! Chicken, though, maybe a tad on the dry side, having sat out after being cooked, then reheated. If there’s a different way this can be served, I’d look into it if I were the owner. Rice was just al dente enough where it wasn’t mush, but a good bite to give a different texture to the softer ingredients.
Location - wish you had a better location, as you would have no idea simply from the road or from driving in the shopping center. Get that word out!
Will return! Glad Conyers finally got a place like this! I was wanting something different, and fresh, and glad I...
Read moreThis was my 3rd time coming here and I always get the poke bowl and have been satisfied. However, last night was a horrible experience. I ordered the poke bowl with tempura shrimp, but it consisted of only 1 piece of shrimp. My family was with me and saw that they had hibachi chicken and steak and got their meal. However, there was no rice with either meals and the veggies wasn’t veggies. Just onions. The meat (chicken and steak) had a little teriyaki on it but family complained of it being extremely plain. They threw away their food without barely eating much. For my son, I ordered chicken tempura and it came with tempura chicken and tempura veggies (which was new to me) but we tried it and white rice. My son ate the tempura chicken. However, he’s paying for it right now due to FOOD POISONING. I’m not sure where all of the good reviews came from and honestly the reviews is what made me want to try this establishment. But I will avoid due to the food poisoning, pricing, size portioning and not giving people something simple as teriyaki chicken hibachi with rice. You’re better off finding another spot for that. Not sure what happened this visit, but I was definitely fooled and won’t be returning or...
