The owners do not respect their customers. I’ve been coming here a long time and the normal cashier is great but anytime one of the owners or a person affiliated with the family is on the register, it’s a disaster. good customer service is not just about being friendly, it’s also about respecting your customer’s time and creating a pleasant environment. they are completely unbothered by having their customers wait an ungodly time in line. This is a place that sells premade cakes, so there is no reason why someone should be standing in line for 20 minutes+. It literally takes seconds to put some cake slices in a bag and punch it into the register. these people take their sweet time because it’s all about them being comfortable, not you. The last time I was in here, I was behind a lady who was placing a custom cake order. She didn’t know what she wanted so she was asking a million questions and taking a long time to figure things out. She was aware of this and turned to me and asked if I wanted to go ahead since she was taking a long time but the owner preferred that she finish placing her custom order first. The owner then proceeds to handwrite the order. this took forever. When the lady finally was done and was ready to pay, the owner then proceeds to ask a bunch of follow-up questions and triple-check everything. Mind you, this was a very simple order that didn’t require all this conversation. by this time, a line had amassed out the door and the owner was totally unbothered by this and had no sense of urgency or care. The proper thing to do would’ve been to ask someone to come from the back and help move the line and let the waiting customers know that they will be helped shortly. I walked out and the owner never made a comment about it. again, completely unbothered. I am not going to support a business just b/c they’re black-owned if their standards are not the same as non-black stores. lastly, I was going to leave this review on their FB page and i came across a video of the owner angry about a customer who wanted an exchange. This is totally unprofessional. Again, you would never see a non-black business operating this way. During the video she even bragged about how they have police officers sitting in the parking lot of the bakery just in case customers get upset. Really? given the relationship with and tone of policing that blk ppl currently endure, you think it’s a good idea to have police on standby in case your customers have an issue? wow. I hope our tax dollars are not paying for these public servants to provide private security detail for your bakery. if you want to know the kind of hostility and nastiness the owners harbor, just read the business’ responses to the low ratings. Nothing but snarkiness, sarcasm and overall disdain. ugh. good riddance...
Read moreUnfortunately, the customer service was lacking. When placing my order, I sent a photo of a cake with a letter "B" cake topper that I wanted replicated. She told me that she didn't know what font was used but she would hand make a "B" for the cake. When I arrived to pick up the cake hours before my event, there was no "B" when I saw the cake in the fridge. I thought maybe she would put it on before I left. However, while boxing up the cake she makes a comment that the cake "looked like something was missing" and asked me if I had a cake topper I was going to use. I told her that she was supposed to make a "B" for the topper. She then very nonchalantly said that it was too late for her to do it and that I could go to Hobby lobby down the street and get the "B" for the top. So, with no other choice, I went to hobby lobby two hours before the event to purchase this "B" and then had to spray paint it black. I'm not an unreasonable person and I understand mistakes happen but she didn't offer anything else to rectify the situation and barely apologized, not what I expected after spending $400 on a cake. The red velvet was on the dry side, vanilla was good. The cake did look good but I...
Read moreMy brother ordered the Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake, I ordered the Banana Pudding Cheesecake, and my mother ordered the Vanilla Cake, so we were all pleasantly satisfied. This is a real dessert shop. Sorry I were met with an attitude walking in at closing. Maybe the lady had a long day, and since it was my first time being there taking a few moments to talking to family to know what they wanted probably got on her nerves a bit. The woman with the head dressing asked another woman to turn off the open light after I walked in. It was 5 mins before the posted close time. I will say the cake slices were really good, and plentiful. All three cake slices came to just under $30. Food definitely 5 out of 5, the reception I received probably got me not wanting to come back. I don't expect service with a smile, just appreciation for spending my money with you. This is definitely a good spot for deserts if you're need your sugar fix. I'm just sharing my...
