Sakura Hibachi Express — Restaurant in Cookeville

We used to eat here all of the time. The past couple of times, it’s not been good. Last night, we ordered the hibachi steak and added zucchini and onions, same thing we always get. The rice was undercooked, the mushrooms were still white, again undercooked, Onions not cooked, and the steak was very bland. This is about a $15 meal. So I called and talked to the manager. I explained the situation and the manager said to bring in the ticket another day and they would replace the food. So I went there tonight for dinner since we literally just had to throw it away last night and there was a female manager there that said that she wouldn’t charge me for the onions and the zucchini add-on, but that I would have to pay for the rest of it. I thought maybe she didn’t understand the situation and that I had spoken with one of the managers already , but she did understand and that was her final determination. I don’t know if it’s new ownership our new management but something has definitely changed for the worse. I will say that they typically have the same person working the drive-through, and the guy is so unbelievably nice, even with the ridiculous situation tonight, he was very nice, but with all the other places where you can get hibachi steak, just call it in ahead of time and order somewhere else. The price is about the same, just about anywhere you go. I definitely won’t be eating...

The food at Sakura is okay. It's about a dollar cheaper than other places like Kobe, Fuji, Rice time, etc. You get a LOT of rice. The portions for meats are decent, but a little less than other spots and everytime I've gone they've put the sauce on thick. For vegetables they only have carrots and mushrooms. You get about 6 carrots. Each slice is about 1/2 inch. Sometimes they're cooked all the way through and sometimes they're not. The handful of mushrooms are okay. Meals come with one shrimp sauce and a two-bite spring roll. The shrimp sauce container is larger than any other place's containers. Drinks arent included in the meals, but they are pretty well-priced.

The staff is not great, but not bad enough to complain about. They lack friendliness but they get the food out quick most of the time. If they're busy they probably won't look at you and it may take them a few minutes to acknowledge your presence if you don't speak first.

The store is pretty clean and it looks like the back is the same since you can see somewhat into the kitchen.

If the value was better I'd give them four stars, but as it stands I'm getting about half the ammount of food I get at identical places that are competitively priced. It's not worth it to me and tonight will be my last visit, but if you've never tried them before they may be...

Normally I do not leave reviews, however I was truly disappointed with my service. I came into town on the 13th checking on loved ones and stopped here before returning home. It was the 1st time I visited and my order was incorrect and did not taste well. I called and spoke to this gentleman who seemed apologetic and stated I would be receiving a refund in a couple of days. A few days past and 3 calls later still nothing and when I called on the 17th the gentleman was rude and rushed me off the phone. Attempting to resolve this today on the 21st and still no assistance.
