We discovered Silk Road Indian Cuisine and Bar in Coppell, TX through social media, and after seeing the buzz online, we decided to give it a try. Glad we did—this place has potential!

First impressions: the restaurant is new, spacious, and clean with an open-plan layout. One of the pleasant surprises was that we didn’t walk out smelling like curry, which can often happen in Indian restaurants. So that’s a definite plus.

As we entered, two of the owners personally welcomed us, and a staff member showed us to our seats. The menu is extensive, offering both North Indian favorites and specialty dishes from Kerala, South India. We ordered vegetable samosas, Kerala parotta (a must-try—soft, flaky, and perfectly made), chicken tikka masala, and one of my personal favorites—Kottayam-style pomfret fish curry, which came beautifully presented in a traditional clay pot (though the pot size was a bit over the top for the portion).

The fish curry was absolutely outstanding—authentic, flavorful, and comforting. However, we were a bit disappointed with the chicken tikka masala. Unlike the smooth, rich version we’re used to, this came with large chunks of tomato, onion, and bell pepper, which overpowered the dish. The tandoori-style white meat was good, but the execution of the sauce could be refined.

Now to the not-so-great part: the service. While the atmosphere and food were commendable, the service experience really brought things down a notch. It was clear the staff lacked proper training. Though there were plenty of servers walking around, they seemed unsure of their roles and inattentive to customers. We were seated and then forgotten for nearly 15–20 minutes before anyone took our order. I specifically requested for the samosa and masala dosa to come first—but the dosa never showed up. Instead, entrees came out in a confusing, staggered manner: samosa first (check), then chicken tikka, then rice… and much later, the parotta. The dosa was never served, so I had to cancel it.

To top it off, I ordered two parottas to-go but only received one. After settling for that, another server randomly showed up with the second one. It felt chaotic and disorganized.

The silver lining? The managers did check on us a couple of times and were genuinely friendly. I really hope they take this feedback seriously—a few intentional steps in staff training could transform this place. With the right service culture, this restaurant can truly shine. If they get it right, customers will not only return—they’ll become their biggest promoters.

Coppell truly needs a place like this—offering high-quality Kerala cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. We’re excited they opened their doors and want to see them thrive. I’m sharing this review not to tear down, but to build up. Here’s to a better dining experience next time—and many years of success...

Silk Road Indian Restaurant is an absolute gem that elevates Indian cuisine to new heights with its masterful blend of North and South Indian flavors. Nestled in a vibrant setting, this restaurant delivers an unforgettable dining experience that tantalizes the taste buds and warms the soul. The menu is a delightful showcase of India’s culinary diversity, seamlessly blending the rich, creamy textures of North Indian dishes with the bold, aromatic spices of South Indian cuisine. From the North, the butter chicken/ Chicken Tikka is a revelation—silky, perfectly spiced, and bursting with flavor, served with fluffy naan that’s fresh from the tandoor. The biryani, aromatic and layered with tender meat, is a standout, each grain of rice infused with a symphony of spices that leaves you craving more. On the South Indian side, the porotta is nothing short of perfection—tender yet crisp, golden, and I paired it with vibrant Malabar Salmon fish curry that dance on the palate. The kottayam fish curry (comes in a clay pot) & beef roast , with its fiery yet balanced spice profile, showcases the chef’s expertise in capturing the essence of South Indian coastal cuisine. What sets Silk Road apart is the exceptional skill of the chef, whose passion for authentic Indian cooking shines through in every dish. Each plate is crafted with precision, using fresh, high-quality ingredients that elevate traditional recipes into something truly extraordinary. The balance of flavors—sweet, savory, spicy, and tangy—is impeccable, making every bite a journey along the ancient Silk Road. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with attentive staff who make you feel like family. Owners are always there with a warm smile and a genuine invite. Whether you’re a fan of North Indian classics or South Indian specialties, Silk Road delivers a culinary experience that’s as diverse as it is delicious. This is hands-down one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever visited, and I can’t wait to return for another...

Tried food at The Silk Road, Indian Cuisine – and let’s just say, my taste buds had a good day (mostly 😉).

Started off with a Mango Lassi – and wow, solid quantity and super refreshing. Felt like the mangoes were personally blessed by the chef. Definitely ordering it again next time!

Ordered the Chicken Combo, which came with: • Chicken Biryani – Yummy! I was emotionally attached to every bite. • Garlic Naan – Fresh and fluffy. Honestly, naan like this should come with a warning: “Highly Addictive.” • Butter Chicken – Hot, creamy, and full of flavor. Basically the comfort food equivalent of a cozy blanket. • Veg Pakora – Crispy and hot – like it just came straight from the fryer and whispered “eat me.” • Dal Soup – Fresh, hot, and slurped till the last drop. • Rice Kheer – Sweet ending. Tasted like dessert therapy.

Everything in the combo was on point – hot, tasty, and satisfying. Definitely coming back for this one!

Now for the To Go story: • Chicken Samosa – Pretty good. Not too oily, and the filling hit the right notes. Would happily snack on it while pretending to share.

• Chilly Chicken – Umm… yeah, this one? Big nope. Felt like I ordered regret. If this is how Chilly Chicken usually tastes in Dallas, I’m officially breaking up with it. Should’ve left it behind. 🥴

✅ Overall: Good experience! Giving 4 stars – would’ve been a perfect 5 if not for the chilly chicken plot twist. Everything else?...

My wife and I did the Meat Silk Royal Dinner for 2 this Friday evening and it was superb. We weren’t sure of the intensity of their spice levels so went with “Hot” to gauge spice levels. Had a nice kick and plenty of heat. The yellow lentil soup was delicious and had a creamy texture and tons of rich flavor. The rest of the dishes were brought on a lazy Susan style spinning platter so you could rotate the dishes you wanted to serve yourself. My wife especially enjoyed the Lamb Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala with the perfectly fluffy and fragrant Jasmine rice and Garlic Naan. Expect the restaurant to start getting filled by 6p but they had plenty of wait staff to attend to their customers. Nearly half their clientele are of Indian descent which is a good sign if the quality and authenticity of the food. Plenty of delicious options to try in the future and looking forward to enjoying the beautiful atmosphere for a lunch special next time.
