Habanero’s Fresh Tex Mex – A Hidden Treasure That Stirred My Soul
Somewhere between Georgia and Tennessee, in the middle of nowhere, I found something sacred: a plate that tasted like memory, warmth, and legacy.
I ordered the steak a la mexicana, and what arrived wasn’t just food—it was a miracle. The tomato, the chili, the beans… every bite brought me back to snowy valleys in Ellensburg, Washington. To chilaquiles in Sunnyside. To the hands of my ancestors who knew how to cook with soul.
The steak was tender, kissed by its own oil—not too much, just enough to say, “I was made with care.” The salsa was spicy in all the right ways. And the tortillas—yellow, honest, and straight from Del Milagro in Chicago—wrapped it all up like a warm embrace from the past.
I’m deeply grateful to the universe for guiding me here. This place doesn’t just serve food—it delivers memory, comfort, and a flavor that hits you right in the spirit. I give it six stars. Not for perfection, but for truth.
Thank you, Habanero’s… for...
Read moreWas pleasantly surprised with this place. I'm not giving it four stars for Southern California expectations, I'm giving it four stars for North Georgia expectations. Grabbed some Carne Asada tacos and platters with Guac (includes beans & rice) on the go while we were staying at a cabin nearby. Beans and rice were good compared to what you get in Atlanta but the Carne Asada tasted like my grandmother made it and not in a good way. It was like some guy heard this is how Mexican food is supposed to taste and guessed on the ingredients. There was no attempt to marinate the meat or even throw in limes at the last minute to make up for it. They don't have to make excellent food because the clientele doesn't know the difference. As long as it's hot and included with the staples, and served with runny salsa & margaritas, it's all good to the locals. Place was clean and the staff was nice which helped the score as well. If in a pinch and tired of paying $15 for a BLT & chips in...

Decor was lacking. A good coat of paint would make a huge difference. Carpets (bad idea in most restaurants) needs a good cleaning.
Seating was around five minutes. That was good
Server brought over chips, salsa, and took our drink order. When he came back with the drins,, he took our food order. We had a party of four
40 minutes later, we were still waiting for our food, and have watched several other tables seated after us already receive their food. So, it was time to give the busboy $5 for the two waters and two unsweet teas, and head back to the train.
It was unfortunate because three of the four in our group eat mainly a vegetarian diet, and this place had several options.
There is another Mexican restaurant in town that appeared to have two levels of seating. Next time we will...
