The Waterfront Bar and the staff was a Thanksgiving save!! #realtalk I literally had NO dinner plans until 4pm day of gobble gobble. I started googling "North Georgia Thanksgiving 2024". The Waterfront Bar popped up on a Georgia place to food list. I read about a buffet and called to confirm as well as ask for pricing.
It was a GO and an impromptu 1 hour 20 min drive up the dragon's trail and through Blue Ridge.
The venue = simple galvanized steel building. Upon walk-in, the bar area is front and center.
The staff were immediately welcoming, it felt like they were already friends.
SIDE NOTE: I looked liked... A surfer gypsy, who just rolled out of bed. They were still VERY nice. A cute server gal showed us to a booth seat in the dining area. I noticed the gals there were all pulled together well. That actually matters to me. If your slops in your looks, you're gonna be slops with my food. I'm from Vegas, it's unsaid law there.
I ordered my drink, a mule with whiskey. It was stiff. I like stiff.
We were shown to the buffet area. Let me say EVERYBODY was so nice, and chill. Food was all on point. Yes. Me issues = I'm picky AF. All food made in-house. Noice. I'm currently eating my pecan pie ... I'm SO glad I was able to take it home. The crust is perfect.
The back outdoor deck / patio is REALLY awesome. It was cold and dark. I rolled in late. The last customer. I am going back during the day to check it out because great service, stiff drinks, and outdoor vibes are kinda my go-to. #facts Being from the West Coast your driving 1-2 hours to get around ANYWHERE. A chill drive up the hill to a family owned spot on the Tennessee stateline river... I'm down 100%
I recommended this venue to my neighbor buddy as soon as I got home. He has already heard about it from his buddy. I can see why, the word on the street spreads quickly. This would be a good place for large families and business employee gatherings. Plenty of seating both in indoor dining area, and on the outdoor dual level wood deck.
REASONS TO VISIT: Strong Specialty Drinks Good food Quality Service Outside deck on the river with dining area Indoor dining area separate from the bar area Exceptional...
Read more5/12/23 - I almost hate writing this review because there's so few decent eating options around here. Plus our first time here was so so much better. But, I'd be dishonest if I didn't tell my truth, so here goes.
Environment ⭐⭐'s - This was the second time here (see 1st time review below) & it was kind of disappointing. We chose to sit inside instead of outside on the deck & had to deal with very loud music requiring very loud voices from patrons wanting to talk to each other, so we sat as far from the rowdy crowd as possible.
Food ⭐⭐'s - My lady had the Best Cluckin’ Chicken, thought it was tasty & had no complaints. I had the house special pasta with a red sauce, pieces of steak & a meatball. The pasta was good, but there was so little red sauce on the pasta that all I tasted was the pasta. I mean no more than a few tablespoons of sauce... The meatball was bland like no seasoning at all & was very dry like it sat around for too long before being plopped on the pasta.
Service ⭐⭐'s - Last time here was great, this time it was quite slow taking over 30 minutes from giving our order to when the food came to our table, on paper plates no less...
Feedback - When paying our bill the owner asked how everything was. I shared there was little sauce on my pasta which didn't work for my tastes. He said the head chef is his father-in-law from Sicily & believes in serving pasta like Sicilians - with very little sauce. He went on to share he's been trying to get Chef father-in-law to understand that he's not in Sicily & Americans like sauce on their pasta. Apparently the boss hasn't been successful getting Chef employee to do as he wants.
So, we may come back again, or may not, we'll see...
10/22/22 - First time here & it didn't disappoint. I had the flank steak & my lady had a pasta special. Both were quite tasty & frankly unexpectedly good. The owner is a total hoot with a great personality. Definitely won't be our last time enjoying the view of the river, great service &...
Read moreCute, cute place along the river. We came in from the Blue Ridge scenic train route very excited for the ambiance and food. This restaurant has excellent reviews and we’re certain that on most occasions the food is excellent and the service wonderful. However this was not our experience when we visited. We were seated behind a large party overlooking a gorgeous waterfront. The hostess was gracious and we began looking at the tempting and expansive menu of food for what we may want to order. Then upon deciding we set our menus down and waited for our server to come by the table to take drink orders, and we waited, and waited, and waited. Multiple tables who were seated after us were being brought waters and sodas etc, then the server left, and came back with mixed drinks for multiple tables, and then left once again, never stopping to acknowledge us or take an order. Then the server returned AGAIN with food for the table that had been seated AFTER us. At this point we had been sitting ignored for 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging our presence, taking an order for water or food, or even asking how we were. At this point we realized we would likely continue to be ignored so we simply left having never been seen by a server. We politely notified the hostess we would be checking out other eateries.
I’m sure that under normal circumstances this place is a wonderful local staple but the care paid to quality and promptness of service could do with some thoughtful attention to better process tables in...
