due to the lack of time and the Holidays, It took me a copule of weeks to finally get to send my review... On December 8, 2023, among the thousand restaurants in Miami, me and my wife have chosen MesaMar to celebrate our 24th year Anniversary. At the beginning we were a bit uncertain on weather we had made the right decision to celebrate our 24 years together... However, we made our reservation on open table and went to find out how our celebration was going to turn out..... Well. we did not mistake at all..!! from the moment we walked in, we could feel the feel of an awesome environment, we then approach the hostess who acknowledge us immediately , checked our reservation en then precede to set us. The dinning room was spotless, the flow of service flawless and smooth. By that time we knew that we were in the right place for our celebration. A minute after we sat down, Yarelis (Server) came to greet us with a very pleasant an welcoming smile, she gave us a tour of the drink menu and offer to bring us a couple of wine tastings in order to facilitate our wine ordering. After we had ordered our wine, she then proceeded to give us a tour of the dinner menu and after she had suggested a couple of dishes from the menu, we then placed our order. While we waited for our dinner, fresh, warm and delicious bread with butter was delivered to our table by the server assistant and our water glasses were refilled without asking, every time there half way empty....at that point we could observed the Team work among the entire restaurant staff and high quality of service, very unlike to get at a restaurant in Miami/Florida, we were WOW!! by the Teamwork and the outstanding Service. Our food arrived about 13 minutes after we had placed our order, it was Fresh, hot and very tasty...what treat for a perfect Celebration. A two bite check was performed by Yarelis, and the steps of service very well executed, once we were done. with dinner, the plates were cleared in a timely manner by Yarelis and the Server assistant and then dessert menu was presente and described to us by our server...we the precedent to order dessert... I have to tell you...It was Amazing...!!! To make it un unforgettable celebration, the Manager Antonio, stops by our table to ensure our entire Dinner experience had fulfill our expectations with the service and the food....as well as to inform us that due to our Universally Celebration our desert was complimentary as well as a toast with an after dinner dessert wine....wow..wow. We have no words to describe our experience at MesaMar, other that to say that was UNFORGETTABLE !!! an experience and a very special celebration that we will remember for ever. Our special thanks to Yarelis, the serving Staff, Antonio for developing such a great Team of employees and MesaMar for and awesome Establishment. Awesome Job!!! Read moreThis visit was a huge disappointment! We were having our Holiday lunch for 4, and my husband and I told everyone it would be “great”. I knew the owner Fifi (or at least who I thought was the owner) from her former restaurant on the beach which I Loved and visited often. When I heard about Mesamar I was happy because I now live in the area. My husband and I visited a few times and liked it.
But this was nothing of what I knew. It was so different I wondered if Fifi had sold it because this just wasn’t her style at all. Our waiter was just not interested in serving us at all. I had to ask for the wine list. He didn’t clear the table of the extra place settings. He took the appetizer order and walked away. We were ready to order. He didn’t wait for us to finish the appetizers, or clear the plates to bring the food. He was just trying to stick the main course on the table with everything there.
He disappeared often and took a long time to return. Everyone at the table commented about how inattentive he was but didn’t want to make a scene. Eventually I got up to find him and told him that he was leaving us unattended.
When our food came there was no rice or beans which was a thing I was accustomed to at Fifi’s restaurants. 3 of us ordered fish, and he brought no sides and didn’t ask about bringing sides. Just fish on a plate. When I asked he basically said he forgot! My husband commented he either has a problem or he doesn’t care about his job at all.
Aside from this the food was not great. We had, for appetizers, octopus, ceviche, & calamari. They were okay. I was accustomed to great! The fish was okay. When we eventually got some rice and beans they were not good. The rice was overcooked and the beans were completely bland. I then tried to salvage by ordering the Jasmine rice. It took a while and by that time it didn’t matter.
The wine I had was very Good. But the dessert, their classic flan was terrible. I have had Fifi’s flan a million times, and was looking forward to it, but this was no where in the same galaxy. The bottom was actually hard, like with a cake texture.
It was so bad I was sorry for recommending this place for the office Holiday lunch! This server was terrible and basically ruined our Holiday lunch. It was 4 of us and the bill was over $300.00. We usually tip 20%, but don’t like stiffing servers so we did leave $40.00. There are so many other places our Holiday lunch for 4 would have been better. That was my last time there! Good luck because they are...
Read moreMesaMar Seafood Table in Coral Gables offers an exceptional dining experience for seafood lovers. Our evening began with two beautifully crafted cocktails: the Tanqueray and the Brisa Del Mar. The Tanqueray was a crisp, classic gin cocktail, with the perfect balance of botanical notes and a refreshing twist, while the Brisa Del Mar was a tropical delight, light and fruity with just the right amount of sweetness, setting the tone for a relaxing evening.
For appetizers, we indulged in the Lobster Tacos, which were an absolute standout. The lobster was tender and flavorful, and the presentation was elegant. The combination of fresh ingredients—alongside the perfect blend of seasonings—gave each bite a burst of flavor, making it the ideal start to our meal.
Moving on to the main courses, we tried the Enchilado de Camarones and the Camarones al Ajillo. The Enchilado de Camarones was a rich and flavorful dish, featuring shrimp cooked in a robust tomato-based sauce, with just the right hint of spice to elevate the experience. The shrimp were succulent, and the sauce was perfect for dipping with the accompanying rice. The Camarones al Ajillo—garlic shrimp—was equally satisfying. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, with the garlic sauce rich, buttery, and infused with fresh herbs, giving it a classic yet memorable flavor.
The atmosphere at MesaMar was warm and inviting, with an upscale yet relaxed vibe that made us feel comfortable throughout the evening. The service was attentive, and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu, providing great recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was top-notch from...
