Iām torn between giving this place 4 stars or 5 stars. In the end I give them 5 for several reasons. Number one being the service. Thereās nowhere else you could go where they will treat you better. Our waiter, Giovanni, was amazing! He was attentive, knowledgeable, professional, and yet very personable. I couldnāt have asked for a better server. The second reason is the entire experience- the restaurant is clean, updated, elegant, comfortable, and has a great ambiance to it. We sat by the window and had a nice view of the older architecture in Coral Gables. From the moment we walked in, the hostess, bussers, and all staff were welcoming and accommodating. The experience itself was incredibly enjoyable. The location is also great. Itās in a great area where there are a lot of places to walk around and see. The food is really 4-5 stars. Iām not sure if the high prices make me feel this way. But, I canāt get over a petit filet and 4 shrimp being $50, with NO sides. To pay $15 for a side potato, or $15 for a side vegetable, really makes your meal $70. For that, I donāt feel like thereās any possible way that the steak is that much better than any other steakhouse that charges $40 for the steak, including the side dishes. Youāre really paying for the service at this point. To continue with the food, I got the garlic crusted sea bass. My husband got the petit filet with 4 shrimp. We shared a side of au gratin potatoes and a side of the porcini mushrooms. I had a glass of Sauvignon blanc. My husband tried the RC version of a Moscow mule. Both were very good. The sea bass was as good as Iāve had other places. Just as good as P.F. Changās. Not as good as Atlantis in the Bahamas. I tried a bite of my husbandās steak. It was good. Nothing amazing. Better than Outback, but not better than Mortyās or Flemingās. Just as good. The mushrooms were a big hit! Absolutely delicious! The potatoes were good. We didnāt order any appetizers because we didnāt want to fill up before our meals. We were full afterwards and didnāt have any room for dessert. Altogether our bill was $187 before tip. We left our server a $50 tip because he was the best part of the evening. I would go to any restaurant he worked at. I recommend this place for a special occasion, but to me the food does not justify the prices. I would go back if it was on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCheck your bill! I had a party for 26 recently. The Mgr, was not there for the entire event nor did she let me know that she would not be there. The person who booked the event was not organized and the last day when I was super busy and had guests from out of town, before the event she had me scrambling to get her paperwork finished. The servers offered my guests to order whatever they wanted instead of the wines I had chose. The mimosas were glowing and the orange juice did not mix with the champagne, several of the guests were afraid to drink it and two of them I sent back but they were ALL on my check. I explained to the server but he insinuated that I didnāt know what fresh orange juice looked like which I make juice at home every morning so I know exactly the color and consistency variations possible. My party was for my own family so I know exactly what and how much they drink. I also know how many of the adults drink NO alcohol at all and many were children, This did NOT match my bill. The servers were inconvenienced to pack up my side dish leftovers and I had to ask twice as I saw them throwing away the food. Many of the side was dishes were completely untouched by my guests so my family from out of town wanted me to take them home. My guests were offered āespresso or cappuccinoā when coffee was what I asked be offered and what was on the menu I chose. Coffee should have been first offered and if the guest asked for something else then, yes, they could have it. Of course, the espresso and cappuccino were additional charges. I ordered coffee for myself but it did not arrive and my guests were leaving so I went to the kitchen because no server returned to the dining room. By the time my coffee arrived, I was the ONLY person sitting at the table and there were about only 5 guests left standing. This was my sons first communion however my family gathers for ALL events and celebrations so we are always considerate of each other when attending each others events and typically only eat and drink...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time was tonight in Coral Gables, FL. I've heard for years how good their steaks are. Pricey, but really good. My fiancee and I decided to split a Chef's Special, made it a 16oz ribeye and changed the sides around. Frankly, we had a long day and wasn't in our best clothes (we're here for touring), and honestly, we were not in great moods (it's been a long day for some rednecks in the big city). Parking, as it is everywhere here, sucked! The valet finally handled it and we went inside. From the moment we entered until the moment we walked out, everyone was very nice, professional, and timely. The server (Sebastian) was great. On top of everything, but not under our skin. He kept it super professional until we got him to talk a little. He was still professional, but loosened up just a little. Good luck in your future endeavors as an attorney, Sebastian! Everything we had was pretty much perfect. Bread with soft butter (I don't understand how other restaurants don't get this! Warm room temp butter!), our drinks were very good. She had a salad, then the steak and lobster came out with the scalloped potatoes and brussel sprouts. Heaven! The steak is easily in my top 10 ever (I've ate a steak or two). You could almost cut it with a fork and chewing was almost unnecessary. We actually had to stop ourselves just shy of finishing it, because there was cheesecake coming for dessert. And, that was just right for us. We shared the single serving, as not to overdo it. Now, if you're like us and you mostly go to the more common steak places, you're going to want to have your butt in a chair when that check comes. But, I'm a math guy, so I already knew. But, it was worth it and I'd do it again! Every restaurant has there days where they're amazing, and days when it just goes off the rails. Today, these guys and girls were on point! Thank you Ruth's Chris Steak House for a great meal....
