Iād like to start this review prefacing a couple things! 1) I believe in reviews good or unfortunate 2) I own a Catering and events company so I appreciate all feedback and in return am understanding and forgiving yet expect good business for my money spent
Now, I was in Miami on a photo shoot, I visited a Buffalo wing place on Sample Rd 15 years ago and Iām from Bflo so HAD to come Back!
I called at 9:50am and placed an order- they open at 11. I was told The earliest that I could pick up my wing order was at 11:30. I arrived at 11:05 and decided since being early I would grab a cold beer and wait for my order. I drove 35 minutes off of my beaten path as I had another business meeting in Deerfield beach at noon ....which I pushed back especially for this to go take out.
When I arrived I spoke to the day of Manager who was great...and told her how I thought they happen to be the place from 15 years ago but upon arrival I realized that it was not the same but still very excited!!!
I also informed everyone that I was there early and that I had called my order in quite some time ago and that I was simply here for a pick up order that I was told would be ready by 1130 but being in the business...I imagined would be ready sooner because I had placed my order prior to them receiving any others.
At 11:35 I walked back in to check on the status and quickly realized that something was wrong.
The day of manager called the owner and complained to him that I ordered at 9:50 AM and that my wings had never even been dropped into the fryer.
I explained that at this point there was no way I would be able to wait for them to be fried, and then grilled the way they are to be prepared and that I would need to leave.
The day of manager was very apologetic and explained that she called the owner and let him know.
I left, but I called back because I wanted to speak to the owner myself and I wanted to let him know exactly what had occurred and that I would be returning later this week on Wednesday and I would love to revisit but that I really felt he needed to address whoever it was working in the kitchen and why it was that such a large error had occurred.
Not only did I NEVER receive a call from the owner, who was obviously very readily available to receive his managers phone call but I never received a callback from anyone saying that he could not call me.
I wasnāt going to do this review!!!! because I wanted to save my review for when I returned and gave them the opportunity to turn the situation around and then I would submit one about their (assumed) amazing food which I was hopeful would overshadow this experience.
But ...seeing as how the owner could not so much as give me a phone call back, I will now not be returning and have only one experience to share with you all.
I hope that the owner will realize that things like that should be handled quite differently and when a customer requests a call from him he should take that seriously.
Too bad I was looking forward to returning and making a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is specific to the Ramblewood Square "North University Drive" location not the superior Sample Road location.
This place is the epitome of "Fall from Grace". I have been going here on and off since 2010. I previously left a great review in the past for this place but it has taken a steady decline in recent memory. This place is in the toilet, its spiraling down the crapper with corn included.
My friends and myself have ordered from this place, and experienced a gross level of incompetence. Missing sauces, mixed up orders, missing items, and all of this while the prices continue to surge.
This location used to be THAT PLACE, but times have changed. Order from this place and you are guaranteed a headache from driving back to correct orders with their teenage staffers. No accountability and gaslighting on the part of leadership. Once upon a time, you did not even have to check your order bag, because you expected the staff to be competent and know how to load a bag from a screen. The hiring process of your staff needs to be overhauled to employ people with adequate cognition and critical thinking skills in that case.
This is not fast food, the time to use critical thinking to fill an order should not yield this much of a failure, especially since there should be TIME to complete takeout checks with accuracy. Management needs to perform quality checks for each order to assure the orders are being filled correctly before it is brought to the takeout area for pickup. Flanagans does it, BJ's does it, your Wings plus Sample Road location does it! Why can't you....?
I am reading the constructive "bad" reviews and all I see is a lack of accountability from leadership or whomever (probably a teenager based on the terms and jargon used) they left in charge of the Google business account. Instead of sparring on this platform with everyone who is critical of your establishment, listen to them and IMPROVE your service or this location will be known as the location you avoid.
Take accountability and STOP gaslighting customers you could actually try to salvage from their bad experiences. Once Publix, decides to make wings, it is OVER for this location.
If you want a great experience, go to the SAMPLE ROAD location. It is leaps and bounds better than this declining, over the hill place. It is what this place used to be and more.
P.S. I want all the smoke from the "owner" if they decide they want to bully me over my review like they do to others who have an issue with this spiraling establishment. I have time today...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWings Plus is clearly a neighborhood sports bar and chicken wing emporium - we go there for the latter (yesterday there was some kind of ESPN entertainment-focused basketball tournament and we two adults and one teenager had no idea what it was). I should mention that their address shows on University Drive but their location is at the farthest end of the little shopping strip, fronting on Ramblewood Drive. Google Maps is dead on, but if you're only using the address you might wonder where they are. You got yer bar half and your chairs and tables half, that's pretty much the layout.
We had mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms as appetizers, which were good but of course inflated the bill a bit.
For a change, and because I didn't want too much fried food, I had a gyro and switched the french fries to sweet potato fries. Both were quite good; the plate arrived with the sweet potato fries obviously just out of the oil. The pita was fresh, the gyro meat was good and the lettuce and tomato also fresh - a surprisingly good choice.
My friend had fried clams and curly fries and said the clams weren't very "clammy". I tasted one and could see her point. Was it the oil? Well, all the fries were sparkling clean so I don't think so. Maybe they were in a few seconds too long? Not sure. This was the only item we had that could have been better.
My teenage son had hot boneless wings and they were good "as usual", as he would say.
We've visited Wings Plus several times and have never been disappointed. The food obviously comes to our table promptly from the kitchen and they have a good variety of wing flavors, reminiscent of the "golden age" of buffalo wings some 25-30 years ago, when I remember at least one restaurant offering 10 distinct flavors (and levels of heat, OMG before there was an "OMG").
Another Wings Plus specialty is burgers with 1/2 pound of beef, but I can't recall if the burger I had recently was from them or somebody else.
Bottom line, Wings Plus could be a good choice if you're in the neighborhood,...
