I like to start out with what the restaurant did right. That said I came as 1 person and sat at the bar and getting 3 tacos took an hour and a half.
The atmosphere was really good especially for coral springs. Good music. Bad bunny exclusively. Good lighting, lasers and strobe, a small dance floor which is really cool for a restaurant. The murals are really well done.
I ordered a drink called the Heater which was $20 and well worth it. It comes with a tajin rim it was served without the rim i asked if it could come with the tajin and she fixed it no problem.
I ordered the guacamole which i wasnt expecting much from and was pleasantly surprised that it was absolutely delicious, flavorful, fresh and simple. I would have ate the whole dang thing by myself if I wasnt there to try other things.
I ordered at the same time as the guac 3 tacos. 1 chicken, 1 carne asada, 1 chorizo.
It took a loooong time to recieve the tacos. Given its a friday and youd expect it to be packed. It was not. Maybe 20 patrons total in the whole place.
The chorizo was delicious! Would order again! Packed full of flavor.
The carne asada aka steak was literally inedible. I literally took a bite and it was like chewing on a flavorless tire. I put it to the side. The food runner asked me when bringing my food if I needed anything and i enquired about the 3rd taco i ordered and said hed put it in.
20 or so minutes go by ive finished my drink and half a bottle of pellegrino later iIask to cash out.
The bartender asks me if I ever got my last taco; I say no but thats fine. Im not one to get upset about these things. Were human and everyone makes mistakes. The foodrunner hears it and goes and brings out the taco that was apparently ready.
It was the chicken taco which was also delicious! Would definitely order again. It had a sweet and salty tasty. Maybe pineapple and soy sauce marinade. I loved it.
All in all its a decent place. Its new. In coral springs. 2 bartenders seem to run the resteraunt even on weekends which is crazy. I saw 1 other server but he only had 2 tables.
My suggestion to the ownerd is possibly move one of your 2 hosts to a server so you dont give customers a slow or forgettable dining experience and dont drown your bartenders. That said; it was not busy. One of the bartenders you could tell was in the biz for a while. Very attentive, took tables as well as service bar and checked in on me even though she wasnt the one who took my order and another bartender who seemed to be heavily distracted, forgot to ring one of my items, didnt rim the heater drink with tajin which is a crucial part of the drink and i overheard her saying when questioned by a server if the drink she made for his table was a "millionaire" drink as they serve $30 to $50 cocktails and she said she improvised. Not sure if you should be improvising on a 50 cocktail but then again its not my resteraunt or my drink.
To the customers coming in i recommend sitting at the bar if youd like your meal to last less than a couple of hours. I dont recommend the $30-50 drinks as they arent much different from the regular $20 drinks and youll probably be finessed anyways. Other than that enjoy the good atmosphere and the appetizers, and hopefully you get the good bartender and the owners put some more...
Read moreSo weâve been wanting to come here for a while and finally got a chance to. We were pretty stunned to see the prices at first but we figured the food should be good. WRONG!!!!
Letâs start.
The chips were borderline stale. The red salsa was good and had some flavor but the green salsa tasted like it was just blended jalapeños with no other spiced or herb. Key ingredients in a good salsa. But this one had zero flavor. I ended up mixing the green and red salsa to get some flavor.
My girl ordered the Tulum Piña Maya for $35. đ€Šââïž Itâs a hallowed out pine grilled pineapple filled with chicken and steak. Topped off with what we thought would be grilled pine apple slices, instead we got cold and sweetened pineapple chunks. Meh, for $35 youâll eat better and a lot more food at the food court at Coral Square.
I ordered the âOnly in Tulum Bowlâ came with rice, black beans, pico, lettuce, guacamole, queso fresco, and steak. The guacamole was rancid, the lettuces was rusted, and the rice was basmati rice. A rice not found anywhere in Mexican food. That was $20. (The steak was the only good thing in that bowl)
We mentioned it to the waiter and he got the âchefâ to the table and we explained our disappointment. He said he would make me a new bowl but I was already done with mine. Well, I ate what was eatable. He said he was new and was making some changes to the menu but honestly, donât change the food. You can mess with a menu but not the cuisine. Unless you want a fusion restaurant. But I didnât see that anywhere.
At the end the chef offered us a free dessert. REALLY???đ€Šââïž our bill was $60 plus with the tip and we only had those two things and two waters. They also donât have a kids menu.
Aside from all of that, the place has a good vibe and it is very nice and clean inside. But itâs a shame that the food was just not right. I donât mind spending that much money on food, we go out to eat all of the time, but I do mind being ripped off. Theyâre selling food labeled as Mexican food thatâs not that good and small portions. The pineapple thing wouldâve been worth the $35 had it had seafood or something in it but it didnât. I do not recommend this place.
It sucks that weâve been wanting to come here for so long and then be so disappointed. Itâs really a shame that so much has been out into that restaurant but the food is not consistent. If I were the owner, I would reply to this, I can help you. As someone who went to culinary school, has been to Tulum and eaten there, I can tell you this place is not a good place to eat. Maybe good for drinks and hang but the food is not that great.
Best of luck and I truly hope you guys make it through. I wouldnât change my prices but I would definitely make the price worth something. Charging that much for crap is a rip off and just not right. We work hard for our money and want to go out and feel valued. We didnât. We felt...
Read moreWe were excited to try Tulum for a friend's birthday dinner. We arrived about 830 on a Friday night. Wasn't very busy. Plenty of available tables and about 4 dirty tables. Vibe was good, music wasnt too loud even being right in front of the DJ. Hostess was great, she greeted us with a smile immediately and guided us to our party of 11. Server told us she would be right with us, almost immediately. We ordered 5 drinks from the specialty menu along with a few non-alcoholic beverages. It took about 20-25 mins to get the bar drinks. A few of the non-alcoholic drinks were brought but 3 were forgotten. I had a Jalapeño infused Titos drink that tasted like a Titos with pink lenonade.đ Someone had a watermelon margarita, she said it was good. The espresso martini đ(ingredients were supposed to be 3 olives espresso, coffee liqueur, & espresso)tasted like vodka with a hint of coffe with something creamy.
Our order was finally taken after our drinks arrived. 2 people ordered Carne Asada, 1 Pollo A la Plancha, 2 Fajita's, a few quesadillas, and I ordered BBQ Carnitas. Quesadillas were on the table about 10 mins before everyone else's food. Then the Chic and Steaks, then the fajitas, I think she forgot what I ordered because she had to come ask me. Server auctioned off the food and drinks, she took the orders but had no idea where they went when bringing them to the table. Carne Asada was ordered MR but was cooked Well, dry and tasteless, was supposed to be served with roasted spaghetti squash, when we asked if it was still coming was told they didnt have it. Rice was cold on all dishes. The Carnitas were inedible, dry, hard and lukewarm. We sent back the steak and pork and didn't eat. We payed $98.00 for 2 drinks (they were $12 on menu but $15 on check) and 4 shots of WARM Patron (as birthday dessert) and left hungry.
So drinks didn't taste as advertised. Priced incorrectly. Took forever. Food was not cooked to order, tasteless, and not served the way menu reads . Server seemed frazzled but was friendly. Atmosphere has a cool vibe. Place has so much potential but not staffed accordingly and appears to have no leadership. There was a man who came out of the kitchen and hung around the bar and hostess stand, very casually dressed, who I felt like was the owner but he didn't seem to care. The bathrooms....lmao, if I started there, I wouldn't have eaten there. Only 1 stall had toilet paper and that toilet hadn't been flushed in a bit.
$98 lesson. Sadly, I can not recommend...
