The culinary experience takes the spotlight at Ed's Tavern. While not mind-blowingly extraordinary, the dishes are executed with skill. The wings, in particular, stand out as some of the finest I've ever tasted, and the burger was satisfying.
However, the ambiance becomes a stumbling block when the place is crowded. A noise baffling solution is crucial; the din makes it challenging to converse with both fellow diners and the waitstaff. Despite the commendable new interior, the excessive use of hard surfaces leads to echoing voices throughout.
Staffing issues also plague the establishment. It was evident that only one bartender was managing all drink orders, causing prolonged waits. On the upside, the kitchen seemed adequately staffed, ensuring timely food service.
A noteworthy inconvenience is the reliance on paper slips for orders, later inputted into a system. With just two terminals, one for the bar and one for the waitstaff, delays are inevitable. Our table experienced a 25-minute wait for the bill.
Considering these challenges, I plan to revisit in the spring, hopeful that they address these...
Read morePros: The hostess for bingo night. Cons: The bartender—— I didn’t appreciate her comment and the micro aggression we experienced. When we came in we asked for drinks. I had my card out ready to start a tab or pay. As that is the norm to do in bars. She comments, “it is fine as long as you don’t run out.” We were like the only Black people in there. We went there cause it is close to home. We know not to run out. They have a security person at the door. Plus they are extremely cheap and cheaply made drinks. It isn’t like high quality beverages. There were people who sat outside I watch receive drinks and a tab to pay for with no issues. Don’t assume or accuse people of color of possibly stealing. I have no need for that especially with the type of job I have and in this community. It was the first time in my life I didn’t tip. As I left I made sure to mention to her, “I am here to pay for drinks. I didn’t run off.” I been here several times and her attitude the times we have come here has...
Read moreWe love Ed’s in Charlotte, so we decided to give this location a try since it’s closer to home. They have a lot of kinks to work out because our experience was a total mess. I was skeptical when we first ordered because our waitress did not write anything down. I get so uncomfortable when servers do this because most of the time, they get something wrong. And this was the case with our order too. My husband’s order was so messed up, they had to take the whole entree back and re-make it. Then, when it was time to check out, my server charged us for another table’s meal. I had to look closely because it was almost double the amount of my original bill. She offered to fix it but messed it up again! This whole situation took about 15 minutes to sort out. And with each mistake, she blamed “the kitchen” or “the computer system”. All the while, the restaurant environment was super loud and chaotic. We...
