Coral Sushi — Restaurant in Huntersville

I found this place when I moved to Huntersville with my girl first time I ate there was great employees knew my orders. If I called they knew who I was. I didn’t have to really explain what I wanted and it was good. Everything was fine. Food was good. Service was good. Everything was great, but then after it seems as if service dropped and the food quality as well. I get the same items every time I go I’ve been there several times and this was where I got my sushi. I’ll say after maybe a week worth of time going, seems as if food quality and the service of the employees really looking @ orders and making sure there correct just went downhill. My orders the last 2 or 3x going thinking maybe it was just a simple mistake every order I’d place call in(to-go) was not right. I will call in and order my food and would let thm kno each time that my previous orders was not correct. And yet again MY ORDER WOULD BE WRONG!!!! Pick up my food get home and my food was never right. I was received credits and even free food of the same item when I came back, but nahhh it isn’t worth it and I never went back to get credits or the comped meals they offered. I feel like there’s definitely other sushi spot in area or just in Charlotte that you should definitely try! Ex. Ru San’s on park Rd that will blow this place out of the water food and veggies are always fresh and clean and you can definitely tell a difference one taste of Ru San’s and you’ll never comeback to this place. Coral Sushi has become the Outback Steakhouse of sushi in lake norman. I have been going there for years, but that may have ended.

Today I ordered the Chef's Choice, which includes 8 pcs of nigiri and a California roll, a miso soup, and a salad. Everything came out together.

The 8 pieces were 2 each of Salomon, Tuna, Yellowtail and Sweet Shrimp. I mentioned it was a pretty unexciting "Chef's Choice" and was told that it was the same everytime... in what universe is that a chef's choice. That is a standard meal and the description should be on the menu.

Sushi should be partly an experience and having all of food delivered at once isn't it. And a part of what I enjoy about a "Chef's Choice" is the variety and the chef's knowledge and insight about fish. We sat at the bar and they didn't speak, I ordered chef's choice and I got a meal I could have picked up at the grocery store sushi counter.

I had a chirashi (fish on a bowl of rice), hotate nigiri and unagi nigiri. A soup and salad is included. Salad was iceburg and carrots drenched in dressing soup was a decent miso. My unagi and scallops arrived with a side of ginger and wasabi. The unagi was dry and the scallops very fishy and not fresh. I always order scallops at a sushi place to see if their fish is fresh. The ginger was literally brown. Chirashi came out. What a disappointment. Fish was room temperature, not fresh at all. Even the rice tasted like it had been sitting all day. Finally they serve fortune cookies. My husbands actually had a black looking mold on his. Hopefully I don’t get sick from this place. Never going back

Two stars because the waitress was good and attentive. This doesn’t reflect on her.
