I’ve come here multiple times and though it is pricey, everything is usually good. Came today and got what my husband and I usually get, but the club queso was in a much smaller styrofoam bowl than I’ve ever seen before. $6.99 (mind you the menus still say $6.39) for a 4oz queso is absurd. The bowl wasn’t even full, it was the saddest “bowl” of queso we’ve ever seen. We ask for no guacamole in it, and I thought maybe that makes it seem like less, but how is it that I’m going have a ton of tortilla chips with barely any queso? The most disappointing part was the customer service, or lack there of. The “manager” woman who was there at around 11a-12p on November 30, 2023 was very dismissive, and gaslit my husband when he asked about the queso being in a different bowl than usual, and acted as if we were the crazy ones. Jeez I wish I took a picture of the queso because it was ridiculous, I asked for the entire order to be cancelled and left. I don’t go into a restaurant expecting to be waited on hand and foot, but when someone brings to your attention a change or difference in a main menu item that is ordered frequently by customers, have some sort of courtesy or common sense to offer 1) the item be taken off of the receipt and take the item back if you will 2) explain that this is how it usually is, and apologize for the confusion and maybe even give an extra half full 4 oz bowl as a courtesy or 3) explain that there was some kind of change, out of your control.

When you lack these basic skills, your business suffers. The manager may not care, but the owner and whoever put their livelihood into a local restaurant like this does. It’s super disappointing because this is one of my only favorite places in Corpus, but as usual, Corpus does what Corpus does, and poor customer service ruins anything decent. You walk up to a station to place your order then find a table. Drinks are ordered separately at the bar. A mistake had been made in the kitchen and both the unsweetened tea urn and sweet tea urn contained sweet tea. I had wanted unsweetened tea. When we pointed the mix up out to one of the workers they carried the container to the back and never returned with another container or came back to our table with more information. When we got up and asked about it we were told that they wouldn’t be making more because they closed in an hour. At that point we asked for a water and a refund for the tea we purchased. The worker said she would check with the manager. We continued to eat our meal. We noticed discussions between the manager and various employees including the worker we spoke with and the cashier who took our order. The cashier appeared to be working on a refund and calling someone for assistance as she typed on the computer screen. There was zero communication with us. We finished our meal. Cleaned our table and stopped at the cashier stand to inquire about the refund on our way out. The cashier appeared completely unaware. She had to pull up our order, get the manager to type in an approval, and then informed us we would see on our credit card charge that our billed amount would be less than originally charged by the amount of the tea. The entire time there was no apology, some attitude and it was clear that they thought we should have just let it go. We were only in town for the one night but I doubt this is the first place we would return to in the future.
