We went here for donuts and coffee since my brother stopped by and they advertised for a dine in experience. The donuts were great, a little smaller than usual, and the coffee meh. The experience was not the greatest and reason I knocked off stars. Donuts are freshly made once you order, like fried right then, topped and everything. I understand that takes time. However, the staff member showed visible and annoyance that we were ordering something. She was acting overwhelmed and we were the only ones in the shop initially. It made us feel stressed. I had only ever ordered online before so I didn't realize the process to order and eat it there. There were a lot of questions about what we wanted that we didn't expect. The first question should be "have you been in before" followed by a quick run down of what to do if you haven't. There was a second person working who was able to make the coffee. The person making the donuts didn't seem to have the efficiency to work in that style of environment. When others came into the shop her stress increased. I will order online in the future for pickup. It seems most people do that. Don't expect coffee shop style service, they are not really staffed for that and shouldn't advertise for a dine in experience. I love the vegan/gf donuts and will return for those, just ordering...
Read moreThis place is not that great. First, the donuts are all one size. No fritters, no bear-claws, and all the other goodies. The donuts are small ( aprox 3 inches diameter). They dip them in different types of frosting but they are not the typical donuts i.e Marrionberry and Rosemary! After a couple hours my donuts' frosting on some of them are still not solid they are wet. It was 18.99 for the dozen. Additionally, their coffee selection is balls. I got a mocha and when I got into the car and drove out of Corvallis I had a taste. Oh lord... It was bitter, no flavor, and I felt like it tasted burnt. I am kind of surprised by the reviews. It is a nice place to hang out. It is mellow and the people are friendly. I have been to many coffee and pastry places and the one in Eugene's "Sweet Life" is superior in coffee and selection. Even if they do not have donuts they have a huge selection of deserts. I live in Albany so to make the trip to the donuts place in a desperate hope it was better than "Corks" here. Sadly, I would have been happier going to Spirit Espresso and go early to Safeway to get the best selection. I miss good...
Read moreMy wife and I took an early morning trip down to OSU to visit our daughter and decided to give Benny's a go with their gluten free vegan donuts. Reading all of the positive reviews we decided to give it a try given my wife and daughter are gluten intolerant. We got the local seasonal dozen and I ordered it online and indicated a pick up time at 9:30am Saturday morning. We arrived and they were just completing them. They were wonderfully tasty and the slight crunch you get from an old fashioned donut with the variety of frostings. They were small but VERY good.
Very friendly staff and welcoming into the shop.
I called into Benny's and I was told to do an online order so I did. The only thing I would say they could do is to put the selected pick up time and date on the order email/receipt. I looked for it and it wasn't there so it was just a bit unnerving having paid for the order but with no confirmation date and time on the final...
