Free camping and friendly locals.
People talk a lot about how great the camping is along the Corvallis waterfront and in Central Park, but in my opinion, this place gives those a run for their money. How often do you get a chance to sip on a 40 while taking in views of 2 rivers? You can often find some kind strangers enjoying the warmth of a fire, and if you've brought cigarettes or some of the devil's lettuce, they'll probably share the warmth. There are river front camp sites for when the weather is good, and covered sites for the inevitable Willamette Valley rain storms. Unfortunately this park and the whole general area has been taken over by the homeless. On a daily basis you can witness illegal camping , drug and alcohol use. Fights, thefts and much more. There have been serious assaults, and robberies there as well. There is supposed to be no camping in this park however city officials have largely ignored the law so it continues.
