This dog park was SO gross. There was dog poop all over the perimeter, and it seemed poorly maintained. It was overall very slummy - like gross inner city vibes (not surprising, I guess, since it's next to a skatepark and an overpass). Other notable things: abandoned shopping cart filled with garbage, sketchy foot traffic, tons of standing water, and a horse chestnut tree IN the dog park (poisonous to dogs).
The other dog owners were nice, and their pups were friendly.

Read morePeople are friendly but some dogs show aggression and are off-leash, and not under control. Any dog park has higher potential for disease transmission, so young pups are best socialized elsewhere til they have a couple rounds of vaccinations and are past parvo age. One weak spot in this park is the grade of the land. The entrance area is often flooded or wet and muddy and in five years I have yet to see the city doing anything to address that problem. There were three picnic tables, lots of tennis balls to chase, numerous water buckets, and even a couple of wading pools. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean people kept it. In fact, there was no litter or dog feces anywhere in the park, as opposed to other areas around town. Both the four-legged and two-legged creatures got along beautifully.
