This is one of those humble little neighborhood gems where the food is tastier than most sit down restaurants. The portions are very generous too-- this is my favorite spot when I'm feeling depleted and I want a filling, nourishing, high protein meal for a modest price. The service is super quick and kind-- everything is cooked fresh to order. It's an open kitchen and I always appreciate how incredibly clean everything is. I used to work in restaurants so unfortunately I know all too well that most do not hold themselves to such high standards. I've lived in SF, Oakland and NYC, all of which are known for their great international food, and honestly this is one of my top Vietnamese spots ever.

Read moreI'm frequently in the area getting groceries at Oliver's, so this is my routine: For a quick grocery run, I'll first stop at Saigon Cafe, order a beef noodle bowl, and let her know that I'll be getting groceries for the next few minutes and I'll stop by to pick up my bowl after that. Get my groceries. Reward myself with my fresh bowl of beef noodles. Deliciously slurpable, love the lemongrass chili (?) dressing on the accompanying salad. I've found it to be both cheaper and more of a memorable experience than, say, a burger and fries or Chick-Fil-A. Plus it's healthier and supports a local restaurant. We grabbed a beef, chicken, shrimp, and Bahn xio bowls; as well as the crispy rolls. The food had great flavors and was very well prepared. It also felt good to see the owner/chef so appreciative of our order as I can imagine how tough times are with COVID.
