My family and I came in to this village in a couple months ago. It wasn’t that late at night and the restaurant was obviously busy and the staff was obviously short-staffed. Being a waitress myself I fully understand that sometimes you get super busy and can’t have people come in to work. The thing is it took us about 10 minutes to be seated which wasn’t that big of a deal, and when we were seated, the hostess told us our server would be with us shortly. The thing is we waited for about ten minutes for our waitress to come talk to us! While we were waiting, we watched her stand at this table and talk to a group of people that I can only assume were her friends. She finally acknowledged us and brought us water then went right back to the table! We waited for about another 15 minutes and watched her continue to talk to the table the whole time. We had long since decided what to eat and were just waiting for her to come back. She just kept on talking to them. It had been a really long time, and we finally decided to walk out and go somewhere else. She never even noticed that we had left. As we drove away in the car, we could still see her in the window talking to the table, never noticing our disappearance. After that we went to Cracker Barrel and had a good...
Read moreThe waiters are always very courteous and super helpful when it comes to orders being wrong. As for the manager, Scott, he’s unprofessional and rude. He not only has reprimanded multiple waiters very publicly and in a rude manner, he has made it very clear that he was no longer interested in being courteous and welcoming when it comes to paying for meals and leaving the restaurant. My boyfriend and I were the last ones in the restaurant one night and had the ticket and card taken from us so the manager could ring us out and made it very awkward by asking us a tip amount in front of all the waiters. Tonight when we left, he was very rude when checking us out and made the comment “don’t give your waiter a tip if you don’t think he deserves one” in a negative tone when we were taking a minute to decide what our tip amount should be. When our order got checked out for the full amount instead of half and half, we told him it was okay but he had already voided the ticket. He got extremely rude because we had started to walk away before he told us our ticket was voided. He was so concerned with reprimanding every waiter working instead of customer service. We will not return to this village inn due to the mistreatment of his staff as well as his attitude...

Undercooked pork. After eating a portion of our meals (all had pork gravy) we realized the pork in the COLD gravy was very pink. I mentioned it to our waitress who was also concerned enough to bring over the manager. The manager stated that pink sausage was normal and it was actually a good thing. He actually said this.
We did not eat our meals and paid at the counter. I again mentioned this to the manager who then became extremely rude and argued with me about the pink pork sausage. He turned his back and walked away when I said I was familiar with proper cooking procedures. It was such bad customer service that the waitress, Sarah, apologized for the man's behavior. Sarah was very nice throughout the experience.
I know food safety very well. I work for the department of health in a nearby city and county and I will be pursuing this at the aporopriate levels in Council Bluffs. In the meantime it is my recommendation that no one patronize this establishment for reasons of food safety coupled with ignorance and rudeness of management.
This manager's employment should be terminated immediately by Village Inn for the safety of...
