No longer a customer, despite their mostly good bakery items. Since they've moved into the old Oystercatcher building parking is at a premium, especially for disabled folks like me. Directly in front of the shop there is a three-car parking area, and a sign which states "parking for TLRH customers only". EVERY TIME I have visited the bakery they have their work van (with TLRH lettering on the sides) parked in at least one of the spots, and the spot nearest the shop. I've contacted them and was told, rather rudely, that "they need to keep the van close by for any immediate deliveries". What a bunch of garbage. On the mornings I went there the van obviously had been parked overnight, from the moisture and dew on the van. Customers are forced to park farther away from the shop so they can have the van ready at any time, as if it were the Batmobile! Staff aren't the most pleasant, and management does not seem to care about those of us who cannot walk that far to their shop. We no longer go there because of this. Now that they've enlarged I'm sure that Washington State will need to require them to have a disabled parking space nearest the front door; I intend to get that ball rolling by asking the DOL to look into it. Sorry, Red Hen, after a year of taking up your MARKED customer only space, this is what you get. You shouldn't have treated us so rudely and written off our business...
Read moreI was excited to try this box of desserts, but unfortunately it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The carrot cake was on the dry side and I missed the usual moist texture and warm spices like cinnamon that typically make it stand out. The croissant also wasn’t as fresh and flaky as I had hoped. The highlight for me was definitely the brownie, which had good flavor and texture.
Since I arrived right at closing time, I didn’t see any napkins or a disposable spoon available, which made enjoying the desserts a bit inconvenient. Another thing I found uncomfortable was being prompted on the payment screen to leave a tip, even though the order was simply packed to-go. For $16 for three pastries, I expected a more flavorful and polished...
Read moreWe arrived close to 1pm on Saturday and all the other cafes were booked (the Front Street Grill had a 45min wait and Toby's Tavern didn't allow us in because we were with a baby). The Little Red Hen bakery was out of their special already (everything croissant with salmon) but the people there were kind enough to offer to warm up some savory pies with meat and potatoes that they kept in the fridge. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend their chocolate and raspberry pie. We were delighted to find a couple of tables in the bakery and it was perfect for our little party of 4 with a baby. No changing table for babies in the restroom but that was expected for a bakery, not...
