My wife and I passed through Coupeville while vacationing. I regularly try to check out bookstores when away from home as the literature may be more varied. This store did not disappoint. I enjoy reading history books (among other non-fiction works) and purchased three books. The store also surprised me by having many other books that I have read. My wife also picked up a couple of books in the fantasy genre. The sales staff were informative and friendly. Read moreKingfisher is a fantastic bookstore, and I love that they have a downstairs! Extra floors are extra charming. And the folks that work there are really fun and helpful. I confess I had a little trouble finding the bulk of the fiction - I guess I skirted the store and went downstairs before coming back up and around to the register, which is where most of the fiction is - pretty much straight ahead from the door. I also love that Coupeville puts a plaque on the buildings to say what they used to be - and this was a confectionary (I'm pretty sure) which, I dunno, makes...
Read moreOne of, if not my favorite, places on Whidbey for me. Along with being an excellent bookstore with a wonderful selection, it’s a place where queerness is celebrated and it feels very safe to me.
I am lucky enough to visit at least once a week, sometimes more. Every staff member is delightful and will help you with recommendations as much as they can. And the view from the downstairs window is just gorgeous (open if weather permits!) So glad to have Kingfisher as part of the Whidbey...
