I was humiliated at this store by a short, plump woman employee with short grey hair. -I believe her name may be Gwen- I was a regular patron of this store, I have visited with my medical alert and mobility service dog many times and never had an issue with the normal lady we see. Today , this other woman stopped us during our shop, and asked if he was a service animal. I smiled and said yes. Shortly after this, she asked me if I had his certification; I politely explained that there is no legal certification for service dogs. She then insisted that my dog needed to âwear a red vestâ. My dog is a mobility dog- he wears a harness specifically made to help me walk. When I tried to explain this , she cut me off and kept talking over me talking about how I needed to label him so the public knew he was working. I said âno one in this store has any problems understanding he is a working dogâ she then started to ramble about how I was acting like I was offended and being rude. She then boasted about how her family trained guide dogs and that she trained guide dogs; which is clearly false because if she did she would understand that there is no certification for service dogs , and NO guide dog wears a red vest⌠they wear a leather harness just like my dog. When I tried to educate her she would just hold her hands up and say âstop talking . Just stop talking , stop talkingâ. How are you going to talk to any grown person like they are a toddler?? Every person in the store was looking on in horror as she belittled me and kept demanding I shut up. The other woman she was training looked equally horrified at her actions. I handed her an ADA info card and said I was leaving- she continued to yell at my sister and I as I left the store, saying I âlacked confidence in myself judging by the way I was actingâ . I have never been more embarrassed and humiliated in front of so many people simply for existing as a disabled person. And at a store I have been in so many times and take everyone I know to because I enjoy it so much, a store my service dog has accompanied me to MANY TIMES BEFORE. Horrendous, rude, and...
Read moreWe went in today to shop.... my son had a book he wanted and picked out. He and my husband were following behind in store and picking out other items to buy. The lady working physically took the book out of my son's hand and said because he was looking at a bell that he shouldn't do both. I was in shock. Usually you go through the store collecting items to buy. He actually wanted the bell as well. When she took the book from him, I said he was planned on getting it. After she continued to take it back and put it back on the table. I didn't want to shop there or give her my money. I put my items back, my husband put his picked out items back and we left. We went a couple doors down and bought books from a different book store. The lady was super nice and helpful. And the lady at Honey...
Read moreI am the mom of five very well behaved kids. We come to Whidbey to visit grandma and grandpa (who WANT to spend their money on spoiling the grands). Weâve come here MULTIPLE times and have never had an experience that didnât take all the fun out of the experience. The rude and abrasive comments from the lady behind the counter are excessive and hovering. Weâve spent a lot of money here over the years but they have basically gotten rid of good customers for good. Itâs a kid shop. It should be fun to visit. It isnât.
I saw a positive review saying that they thought the negative reviews must be fake. I can assure you that they are absolutely not. They all have the same things to say from lots of different experiences.
If you want to have a nice time,...
