THEY DO NOT GIVE RECEIPTS!!!! Warning if you come here and pay with cards. I will be watching my account like a hawk because this feels like a big scam. Here is what I wrote to their corporate office
"Today is 11.14.23 at around 5:20-5:30pm PST at 459 S Citrus Ave, Covina, CA 91723 I ordered dinner for my family, gave my card for the purchase and was NOT given a receipt. The woman at the window, Brianna (I don't know if that's how it's spelled because she refused to write it down for me) said she could not give me a receipt for my purchase. I find this completely unacceptable and feels like a scam. It's required to offer receipts in California "Regulation 1686. Receipts for Tax Paid to Retailers. Reference: Section 6202, Revenue and Taxation Code.
(a) In General. Each retailer required to collect use tax from purchasers (including lessees) must give a receipt to each purchaser (or lessee) for the amount of the tax collected."
On top of that, she informed me they were severely understaffed. She said only her and the cook were working that evening. Which may explain why she was cranky, I explained I understand it's not her fault they are understaffed but that I did not appreciate the attitude she kept giving me. This encouraged her to be even more rude to me, so I regretted offering any empathy. She said "I don't have an attitude, that's how I am." I also work in customer service, and this was not an experience I appreciated. There are many many options for food in the area. I wanted to give Del taco a try because of their new items, but this has been an awful experience all around. The owner/manager needs to retrain their staff and schedule enough people. Also, WE...
Read moreToday I had a horrible experience at the Del Taco on Citrus Ave. in Covina, Ca.
I ordered 2 fish tacos ($5.), 2 chicken burritos ($6.) and an eight layer burrito ($4.19). So, that is $15.19 plus tax. The bill was $23.34. They didn't tell me the total immediately as they usually do after placing the order.
After I paid, I could see that they overcharged me, so I went in to show them the mistake. I thought they would apologize and quickly correct it. Instead, the person assisting couldn't even follow simple logic or do simple math. She kept trying to make their mistake look as if it was correct. She was either stubborn, blind, or was trying to rip me off. So, I just asked for a refund. She said, "So, you don't want the food." I said, "No, I just want to be charged correctly, but we can't agree, so I'll take a refund."
At first, she didn't give me the full amount back. After I pointed it out, she did. As I was leaving, she made some kind of a noise to show disgust. I wish I had turned around and said "It was your mistake." I'm an educator with 36 years of experience in public schools, including math. Actually, all you need is basic common sense and honesty.
Of course, I won't be going back to...
Read moreSpoiler alert...I didn't actually eat here but it's on my "reviews needed" page and I can't bare the thought of seeing it again. On a not so separate note, Del Taco has served me alone well into the mid triple digits. I will say throughout the '80's and the absorbing of the Naugles franchise, I was on team Taco Bell. That soon changed after the ol' chicken switcheroo of '95, I believe? When TB went from a plain, dry, diced breast meat to their current chicken stew, where vegetables are not an option they opened the door for Del Taco to steal some of the 5 digits in annual revenue I bring to the fast food industry. And that door stayed open until it shut on TB. I am now on team Del Taco and as long as they have the under a buck menu, I don't foresee a change. They will need to change the name of it now that it's more of an item than a menu. I think I met my word count for the bonus points. Looking for level 7 guide status here. Hit that...
