Came here recently on a Sunday afternoon. Hadn't dined here in a few years. The place is definitely showing it's age. It has an old school Mexican household vibe and hasn't been kept up very well. Waited about 10min to be seated. Received the complimentary chips and salsa and our drinks shortly after. Then menu has definitely changed a bit from what I remember and the prices. Oh boy those have also risen , just like everything else these days. I would say that the prices are way higher than you would expect them to be and higher than most Mexican restaurants. We ordered the questions funding with chorizo to start. Which is pretty much the same as I remember it. But with a way higher price tag. $20.95 for a pretty small portion of melted cheese with a few crumbles of chorizo on top. The homemade tortillas it's served with are the highlight! I always loved how they serve it on a stand with a lit candle underneath to keep it warm and to prevent the cheese from seizing up. Couldn't really decide on what I wanted and ended up ordering the Tacos al carbon. It says the meat is "Prime" but I would beg to differ. It comes with "2" homemade tortillas of your choosing. A small sidebof some whole beans with some bacon and a side of rice and a plate filler of some lettuce, red onion and a slice of tomato. Paid $26.95 for that and my lady had the "2" hardware shell taco plate. That came with watered down refried beans, rice and the same plate filler. That was $20! Food was OK and nothing was worth the over inflated prices. I don't think I'll ever be back here again. Just can't justify paying those prices for...
Read moreI came here before and the ladies that work their is all fake and dishonest. She knows it and yet they act like honest religious people. They pick and choose to scam. Pay attention when you go there. If you dare. I ordered the Costillas de Puerto with Nepalese. Serving was for a child and all bones with red rice and bean smothered across the plate to make it look like a lot. That was over $27.00. Happy hour margaritas and beer. My mother inlaw had one and that was $21. I had 2 beers that suppose to be $5.00 tried to charge me $7.. the rest was a tea and dr. Pepper. Also 2 taquito plates. Total bill was $170. Wow. If it wasn't for my wife calming me down on these BS prices, I would of went off them. Instead wife suggested to just do a post, so others are aware. I should of just went to my spot Guadalupes on Gladstone and Lark Allen. Look it up. Will never go to this place that my mother inlaw recommend. Its trash and they are scammers.Don't get sucked in to their business of manipulation. You'll end up pay a ridiculously bill. Will have weights and measures pay them a visit. See something wrong say something. Yes, inflation, cost i know. BJs is also one of my spots also and taking my family and didn't spend that much and we drank more after our...
Read moreOne of my absolute favorite restaurants to dine at for delicious Mexican comfort food with amazing service and atmosphere to match.
We normally come for breakfast. As it's one of the few restaurants I know in town or any that does nopales and eggs (scrambled) with rice and beans. And it's absolutely delicious!!! And get the fresh cafe de olla with refills!!!
Also have had the chilaquiles (red) and it's one of my favorite places for chilaquiles, crispy chips in the sauce is a big deal. They got it right. And the red sauce has such great homemade flavor, you can tasted the roasted chilies!!
Tonight, I had the albondigas and it was perfect for the chilly weather!! The mint in the meatballs, perfect!!! Then... the walnut champurrado... wow... sooo warm, rich, comforting and not sweet!!! I would gladly order it all again.
I always loved the "seasonal" decorations each month too, and all the unique Mexican art and deco and the tiled tables.
And the employees are always so kind and attentive. We are customers for life at La Parillada...
