I feel like the food isn't that visually appealing (ngl I thought it looked ugly when I opened the box lmao), but DAMN does it taste good 🤩 I got the Atlantic on sourdough and the raspberry shortcake smoothie. I'm no food connoisseur so I don't really know how to describe the taste other than that it was savory in the most satisfying way, and the drink was really delicious as well.
I recommend calling ahead to make sure your order is ready for pickup though, because the only downside to my experience was that I placed my order online (through Grubhub) and even though I got a text notification that my order was ready, when I got there they didn't have anything prepared and said they hadn't gotten my order. But then they double-checked and found that it was in their system, they just hadn't seen it... That was kinda upsetting, but on the bright side, they made my order on the spot pretty quickly, and the food was absolutely delicious, so I can't complain.
I would go here more often if not for the fact that everything seems pretty pricey—$13 for a bagel sandwich, no matter how delicious it is, is kinda pushing it imo. Like $8-10 is reasonable, $13 is just overkill. Same for the drinks—it was great, but I can't in good conscience pay $8 for a smoothie on the regular. I also take satiety into account when I consider the price, because if I'm going to pay $8 for a smoothie, I might as well go to Juice N Bowls in West Covina (highly recommend, btw) and get a smoothie jam-packed with ingredients that will keep me full way longer for the same price. All the drinks here are probably good, but you get a fruity sugar rush and that's about it 😂 It's a shame because if the prices were a bit lower, I'd definitely become a regular.
Also, there was no one inside when I arrived at 9:30 on a Friday morning, but the ambiance is very cozy/comfy,...
Read moreCame here the other day for a morning bagel and it was a great experience. Customer service was great, the place was nice and vibey and parking finding the place was easy.
The Bagelry can be found Rowland St, not too far from all the auto dealerships nearby. You can easily miss it since its tucked away in a plaza but of course if you look hard enough you can easily find it. The parking lot was nice and spacious for a smaller plaza. The front of the establishment is nice and clean and definitely looks better inside.
Walking inside, you can immediately see the crown jewels of the establishment on the right, the bagels. There is a wide selection of 'plain bagels' and more 'specialty bagels' like the Works, Cheese Bagels, etc. I ordered the Works (Everything) Bagel with regular cream cheese and had it toasted. There are other options like bagel sandwichs, drinks, I believe there is a Lox Bagel and you can even get a bagel combo with a drink.
The bagel itself was one of the reasons I knocked off a star. I enjoyed every single bite of the bagel but something just seemed off. It felt much 'lighter' than most of the bagels I've had in my life and I still can't pinpoint what's missing. I will definitely come back and try the other selections to see if they can scratch what could be missing and fulfill that empty void, but for now I have to keep the review at a 4 star from my one experience there so far.
All-in-all, I enjoyed my experience here and can see why it is such as staple business in Covina. I would definitely come back and will update my review on the other bagels. I am now looking forward to try the Pesto bagel I saw on my...
Read moreThis was our first visit to The Bagelry. We wanted to try the bagels for breakfast. The bagels themselves are well made and have the right texture for a bagel in the morning. My wife had The Atlantic while I had an Everything bagel with cream cheese. I was perfectly happy with my bagel but my wife was not so happy with hers. Her issue was with the salmon. Me, I don't care for fish so I wouldn't know. She didn't say it was bad, just not as good as the other bagel place we visit regularly. I guess it is subjective. The coffee was fine. The interior looks like they are trying to use the dining area as storage. Visually it doesn't seem like anyone cares what it looks like to someone walking in the first time. This does affect how I perceive my food is prepared. In this world where competition is everywhere in the restaurant business, first impressions count. Although there was nothing really bad, I don't think we will be returning. There are other options that taste as good as they look when you are walking in. Hopefully this is an incentive to re-evaluate the dining area as the possibilities for a successful dining area are there. Not just focusing...
