Rustic Mill Diner & Pancake House — Restaurant in Cranford

Dec. 26, 2022 If I could give this place NEGATIVE 25 STARS I WOULD! Here is the list of problems. *The parking lot was full of ice, (anyone need some money, slip and fall) *We walked in and the alarm was going off for at least 15 minutes. *We were seated in the lower dining room. There was no heat, it was 7°F that morning. The floor is on a slab. I asked if they could turn up the heat, but that fell on deaf ears. The upper dining room could not accommodate a party of 6. *They did NOT have the following: Green Tea, apple, pineapple, grape, tomato juice. NO SODA AT ALL The food: Knock off English muffins🤮. Blueberry pancakes, all the blueberries were piled in the middle of the pancake. It was also not cooked all the way through. 🤢 Eggs Benedict served on Candian Bacon, the bacon had 10% meat the rest was fat. Which means it was not Canadian bacon. The cheeseburger, the meat tasted off. French Fries and Onion Rings were ice cold. Avocado on toast. Came 7 minutes after everyone else was served, the eggs and toast were cold. Another order of runny scrambled eggs, with raw home fries. During this time we asked several times to raise the heat, but they wouldn't accommodate anyone.

Now let's discuss the building. DEFINITELY run down like the parking lot. Booth Seats were tilted. Wobbly tables. Windows that were cracked. The restroom, the women's door would not close, nor the men's room. Zero heat, no hot water, a floor that was completely cracked. This is the amazing part A BUCKET IN THE WOMEN'S BATHROOM. OUTSIDE, Chunks of the building missing 😳😲😱

CRANFORD BOARD OF HEALTH YOU MUST BE SHORT-STAFFED TO ALLOW THIS BUILDING TO REMAIN IN BUSINESS.

TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BUY A DINNER FOR A MAKEOVER, THIS IS THE PLACE !

To the staff, you couldn't apologize enough. I feel sorry for you, this has to be affecting your tips. I know i saw plenty of people walk out.

It just feels sad inside of here. Everything seems old and in need of updating or a little change. All the fake plants, the decor seems eh. Our water glasses were all scratched up, foggy looking, we were served on a broken dish, like it was missing a chunk out of it, my seat in a booth was so flat on one side and lop sided I was constantly shuffling to stay on one side, there's so many water stains on the ceiling, it just looks sad, not prideful. Our waitress was eh, she was chatting with an owner (I assume)maybe for a good while, and didn't give us extra napkins or really visit us, she kinda did a drive-by are you okayyyyyy and kept going. No water refill ask til we finished our food. The food was alright, however it too was served in a sad manner. I got waffle fries, they tasted great but looked like tossed on the plate (and looked like I didn't get the full portion?) and were cold while my wrap was hot hot. The lettuce, tomato, onion served with a hamburger was spoiled, the onion was rotten, there were flies buzzing about as well. The coleslaw and pickle were served in a tiny 2oz portion cup. Between 2 people we didn't even get a whole pickle. It bothers me because I have no idea how long those items have been sitting in tiny plastic cups, and seems cheap? Like here's your tiny morsel of slaw and 3 slices of pickles. Also the one coleslaw was on an extremely hot plate and the plastic cup melted so that was a waste of it and couldn't be eaten. During my checkout the woman ringing me up was busy talking to another worker, just wasn't friendly, although she seemed like she had other things going on so I don't discredit her but still no how was everything, how did it come out, nothing so I didn't say anything as I genuinely don't ever plan on returning here again. I only went into this Resturant to pick up a delivery and the the obvious racism that encountered was not only jaw dropping but it truly hurt me as a person. Here I am a hard working father for two just trying to make extra money for my family and to be ignored and look at like I am less then was heartbreaking. I sat in the car and cried a little because I couldn't believe what has just transpired.

I went to approach and older lady to let her know I was there for a pickup and not only she looked at me in disgust like I was something vile and completely ignored me and went to do pretend work only to come back and stand in front of me as if I was not there. It wasn't until any woman came to retrieve the order which was right next to the older woman to my surprise I was able to leave.

I am a person and at that moment I didn't feel like I was. I didn't feel like I was a father, a husband , brother and son. I didn't feel anything but whatever to woman perceive a black man to be and it really hurt me to my car. I didn't expect this type of treatment in Jersey, Mississippi maybe...
