Dollar General — Local services in Cranford

Not an actual dollar store, but items are generally lower than supermarket. Has a little bit of everything from soup & coffee to paper towels & garbage bags. Big card selection. And much more. Good hours, I believe they're open 10 to 10. However, there is no staff. There is no complete stock. It has gone down hill so much that I'm surprised they're still open. The self check out rarely works. The prices are often wrong. The staff is only 2 or 3 people. The wi fii often doesn't work in the store so my digital coupons never work anymore. I only go there because it's 3 1/2 blocks from my house. Usually on Saturdays they offer a $5 discount (if you spend $25) coupon if you've shopped during the week or online. That is one thing that used to keep me coming back weekly. But now you have to have the paper coupons because the digital don't always work. It's a shame. I don't know what happened to this store....

My friend and I went in and the workers told us that we weren’t allowed to go in because of their new 2 minors allowed at a time. When my friend and I went in there supposedly was 2 minors in the store rule so they asked us to leave. My friend and I are both 17. Two kids went in right after we went in they were both 15 years old and they were not told to leave. Probably because one of the kids was much taller they assumed our age. Shortly after the two kids went in we went back inside. The worker and someone who did not work there yelled at both my friend and I. They were giving a lot of attitude to us. Very RUDE people. If I could give this place a zero, I would. First of all, it is dirty. The one in Elizabeth is cleaner. But what really bothered me is that it is understaffed, and they do not honor Dollar General digital coupons, even if you show them the app on your phone and they confirm that you did correctly uploaded it. Corporate says they are supposed to honor it BTW. So, even when you digitally cut coupons, they still make you pay full price, because their out of date system doesn't detect it. The staff can be rude if you attempt to tell them that rejecting coupons is against Corporate policy. So, maybe, this is a bigger DG issue, but the coupons in the app are scams to get you...
