We used to go to their old location at least once a week (sometimes twice) and always enjoyed the food and never had any issues, so we were excited to try this new location. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The restaurant wasn’t busy—only one or two other tables besides us—yet our server rolled her eyes at us multiple times. The first was when we asked for a few extra minutes to decide, and again when I asked a simple question about ingredients for my child’s dish. Instead of helping, she brushed me off. With our family there, including our young child, the attitude really set the tone and made us uncomfortable. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable ordering, and my husband and I decided to leave.
We were truly looking forward to enjoying a meal here, but sadly we had to take our business elsewhere. It’s disappointing because the food has always been great in the past. In the end, we used it as a learning experience for our child, to show that you don’t have to stay in an environment where you’re not being treated with kindness and respect. Good customer service really does go a long way.
Side note: I do want to add that perhaps if we had been seated with a different waitress, our experience would have been very different. The other servers seemed much more respectful, and the other customers around us appeared to be enjoying their time. It’s unfortunate that one interaction overshadowed what might otherwise have been...
Read moreThis place has good lunch specials. The food is ok, but just ok. I had the shrimp tempura roll and the Philadelphia roll, and my friend had the yellow curry with chicken. I'm not a sushi snob by any means; however, a couple pieces of the shrimp tasted bad. Like BAD. And I saw like milky white discharge under one piece of salmon that had me freaked put. I just stopped with three pieces left. So that was the food. Not impressed with service either. The lady who was at the counter barely acknowledged me when I said I had a to-go order and left I assume to make it (though I showed up exactly 15 minutes from placing it as directed) and then when I asked to pay with 2 different cards, she said yes. So when I told her how much to charge the first card, she snapped "just tell me which order." She snatched the receipts off the printer along with my cards and threw them onto the counter and walked off. She may have been having a bad day, and maybe they were busy making other to go orders. But this was my first experience and I doubt I...
Read moreI actually found ZEN by accident. Foxy's Red Hots used to be in the same location. They had great gyros. I went there and found a small family restaurant that had just opened. I was starving, so I figured I would give it a try. I lived in Thailand for almost a year, so I've got a pretty good idea of what Thai food should taste like.
I ordered the Tom Yum Goong (shrimp) and Pad Thai w/pork, a pretty safe bet for trying out a Thai restaurant that you have never been to/heard anything about. Tom Yum...fresh, hot and tasty. I had to spice it up just a bit, but all the condiments for more heat you could ever need are right there on the table, so you can add as much as you like! Pad Thai...EXACTLY like the real thing. And every time I go there, I am always impressed. The food there is AMAZING. If you must have atmosphere, go to the Loop. If you want incredibly authentic food at very reasonable prices and a friendly staff, go to ZEN! You will not be...
