We went earlier in the day and there were only a few customers. We hasnt been here since it was the Boil Yard. Only had one server and she was all over the place and that made service a little slow.
First thing we noticed, this new restuarant was focused on being cheap. From the out of place buffet to the vague menu items. You could get a fish sandwich, what fish isn't explained. Grouper, cod, tilapia, tuna; who knows. So we ordered gator bites, crab boil, and the shrimp boil.
While waiting for the food, we noticed the table was filthy. We rubbed a napkin across the table and it was covered in nasty food residue. The server cleaned it when we asked, blaming it on the previous nights workers.
When the gator bites arrived, I asked the server for a side of macaroni and cheese. She came back less than a minute later with a side dish of macaroni, clearly not made to order, but rather buffet food being served at the table. And it tasted like buffet mac. Chalky and flavorless mush. The gator bites were very rubbery and had a fishy smell. Overcooked. Or reheated buffet food.
The main meals arrived and they had the same problem. The shrimp and crab were overcooked and rubbery. And they used so much Old Bay, it over flavored everything. I love Old Bay, but its supposed to flavor the food, not be the food. To me, the only thing in the boil that was good were the potatoes. The concept of using cheap buffet food and still charging restaurant prices was a huge turn off. You could have spent less money at a Golden Corral seafood buffet and gotten better tasting food.
The server was polite, but busy. A few minute wait for cocktail sauce because she was bouncing between tables means she was overworked and could have used a hand.
Overall, the place has potential, but they need to drop the buffet and go back to strickly cooking to order. I understand why they would go this route, but at noon on a Saturday with a lovely temperature outside, this place should have been packed and it wasn't. Either charge buffet prices or drop the buffet and go back to what it was before, a seafood restuarant. I missed the...
Read moreThis place came recommended by a friend. Sorry we went this day. We decided to sit a the bar for food and drinks. Big mistake! While the " tattoo girl" behind the bar greeted us - she NEVER had a smile, almost like she wanted to be somewhere else other than doing her job, which is serving customers. I passed this off as being busy at first but kept watching everything. We order 2 dozen oysters on the half shell. My girlfriend got her's first while I waited. And waited. And waited some more. She was finished with her appetizer and waited for me to get mine - almost 10 more minutes - before I got mine. I was getting irritated as I saw there were not one but two other orders of oysters waiting on the server's window yet the "tattoo girl" ignored this and kept pouring others drinks while I continued to wait. And wait. And wait some more. Finally I got served my oysters. My g/f then ate her last bite of her's to be courteous to me while I started mine. Should NOT have happened! We had chosen the house salad. It was 'bag salad'. They don't even cut up their own salad! Slap on a pre-portion of salad dressing and a few croutons ... nothing special, same thing one can dish out at home (which when eating out you expect more than what you can do at home.) We ordered the seafood platters and inquired about the fish - talapia. Wanted grouper. The "tattoo girl" advised such was $3 more. We eagerly agreed. Another mistake. Since the menu stated "unless specified all seafood is fried." We like fried seafood so should not be an issue. Wrong again! The shrimp were typical frozen variety that you get in your supermarket freezer case. Same for clam strips. The grouper? Over cooked and dry! Bill came to $80 for the 2 of us. Way overpriced for lousy service and mediocre food. We paid the bill but stopped at the hostess desk on the way out and asked for the manager to complain. We were shocked, SHOCKED ... to learn there IS NO MANAGER ON DUTY this evening. No wonder the service sucks -- they work totally...
Read moreThis place was awful. Doesn’t even deserve a 1 star. 6 of us walked in, there was nobody to greet you, stood there for a few minutes. Once we were acknowledged and seated it took at least 10 minutes before server came over and took drink order. There is No drink menu and she didn’t offer any drinks nor did she tell us what type of soda was available for the kids, after asking if the served virgin daqauris. Ordered a glass of wine the glass came out with lipstick on the rim from previous person. 🤮 apps came out they were ok. Finally after waitimg 45 mins for meals we received 3 of the 6. By the time the other 3 meals were served everyone else was pretty much finished with their meals. Not to mention it was served raw. Burger completely raw, steamed broccoli was raw as well. Not even steamed. Not to mention the place seemed very dirty, the servers all wore their down, not even pulled back. Leaving over tables and hair hanging is just disgusting!!!! After explains all of the issues to our server not once did she offer to send a manage over. That is just terrible service for a restaurant. I had to ask to speak with a manager. They did discount my raw broccoli and we sent the bloody burger back, so of course they took that off the bill. Needless to say my niece didn’t get to eat. As everyone was done and she waited more then an hour for her raw burger!! Again not very professional at all. Very poor management going on in that place. I will never go back there. Get it...
