I made an order through Uber eats that was cancelled in error. Uber was unable to reactivate the order or issue a refund because the order had already been accepted by Cofax.
I reached out directly to Cofax and spoke to the Manager. I explained the situation. Asking if the order was received and if it was being prepared. I was told by Manager that it indeed was received and was in the process of being prepared. I informed her that since the order was already paid for and was now considered “cancelled” in the app and unable to be tracked as a delivery that I would come in directly and pick up the order myself. The manager said there was no need to do that because she would see to it that it that the order would be fulfilled and delivered and there was no need to come pick it up.
This never happened. Cofax never followed up with me. My food was never delivered. My money was never refunded.
I went into Cofax the following morning on my way to work in an attempt for them to rectify the situation. I spoke directly to Manager. Who remembered the order and situation. She explained that after we spoke, Uber wouldn’t provide a driver because it was listed as canceled. I then politely reminded her that I had offered to and was going to come and pick the up order on my own accord and that she was the one who told me to not to do so because she would take care of it. Which she didn’t do. I expressed I was never notified again by her/Cofax or by Uber that my order wouldn’t be delivered as she had promised to fix.
I then requested for the order that I never received and was fully charged for to be fulfilled for me that morning before work.
This request was surprisingly denied by the Manager, because “they had to throw the order away from the other day.” The same order I again kindly reminded her that I had offered to come in and pick up myself. And the reason it was thrown away was because she told me not to come as she would see to it that it would be delivered. She still declined to fully take accountability and declined my request to remake my order again. Astounding.
While I understand that Cofax is limited to some degree in what they can do when third party issues with Uber/ DoorDash arise. It doesn’t excuse the unwillingness of the Manager and ultimately Cofax to take any accountability for their operational and communicative failures here and rectify the situation. Especially considering that they received full payment for the order. And I had gone out of my way bring this to their attention and was civil and polite throughout the exchange.
This is truly bad form as a business.
Additionally, it’s short sighted and cheap. If they simply had remade the burrito and given me a coffee this morning I would’ve been grateful and satisfied. I would’ve become an even more loyal and supportive customer.
Now I will not be ever returning or recommending either of their locations to anyone. Ya need...
Read moreWhen Eater LA calls a restaurant the "best breakfast burritos," my expectations shoot sky-high. So I was eager to try the acclaimed burritos at Cofax in Culver City.
Located on the corner of Elenda St and Washington Blvd, Cofax is a cozy little spot with ample free street parking nearby. Outdoor benches allow you to dine with your pup. I went on a Friday around 12:30 pm and it was bustling at about 75% capacity.
I ordered the chorizo burrito ($13) and bacon burrito ($14). The staff took my contactless payment quickly and had my food ready in about 15 minutes.
Maybe my hopes were overly high given Cofax's "best burrito" designation, but I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. The burritos are on the small side. The chorizo burrito blended the meats and veggies well but no particular flavor stood out. The bacon burrito packed plenty of chopped bacon but became overly salty.
Cofax offers a variety of coffee beans but surprisingly, the aroma of brewing coffee was absent. As an espresso lover, I passed on trying it.
The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere charming. But the food itself did not live up to my lofty expectations. For exceptional breakfast burritos, I'd recommend Undergrind Cafe on Robertson...
Read moreFirst the good: Service staff were very friendly, and they even offered a donut hole to everyone. I ordered 3 breakfast burritos for myself and the family. The food was well seasoned, and the toasted tortilla was a plus
The best of the three was easily the bacon breakfast burrito because of the huge amount of bacon and there were little to no potatoes in it.
I am not against a potato in a breakfast burrito, but the chorizo and veggi burritos were a bit heavy handed on them. The potato pieces were huge and didnt have any browning on them. So it was like eating a baked potato in your burrito.
Maybe it was because I ate it later in the morning so the roasted veg and potatoes had sat on the roasting trays too long in olive oil.
If the breakfast burrito is going to have potato in it then I would prefer a crispy tot, french fry, or smaller diced home fry.
If you do find yourself here, get a coffee and a donut, or the...
