Occupying a space at Washington, despite their business on weekend, street parking was relatively easy to find. The space might look tiny in a glimpse but you could be surprised by how many seats were available including the mini outdoor one.
I really appreciated the super kind gestures of all the staffs behind the showcase as well. They're super attentive in explaining what they served, which were a ton and might be overwhelming for first timer. Prepare yourself to be indecisive!
Tons of options for pastries and cakes, and even more sandwiches plus other brekkie menu. It's awesome that sometimes they did have some samples to try, helping you having a bite before deciding what to get.
I thankfully got to try their favorite Almond Hazelnut Chocolate croissant sample as I really wanted it yet they're out of stock already when I arrived Sunday noon. It was incredibly luscious with flaky and buttery pastry case, stuffed with flavorful filling. Hopefully got a full portion of you next time, fella! ;)
I ended with their Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake, which looked stunning and huge. I was impressed by how dense yet moist it could be. I even couldn't finish it in one sitting. The crunchy and tasty streusel on top was surely...
Read moreThey have really good stuff here, the pastries look great, but I can't eat that. What drives me this far up Washington is one thing only, the sourdough bread. Don't get there too late, they don't stock huge shelves of it.
This is not rustic sourdough, like Cadoro (also great), the inside is stretchy and glutenous (is that a bad word these days)? The crust is superb, crispy at once, and chewy as all get out. The combination is as good as it gets. The heck with pastry, I don't even need anything on the bread, just ripping hunks of it out and eating it straight is heaven. By the time I get home, a third of the loaf is gone, and my poor car is crumbed to death even more. I can't think of any sourdough I've ever eaten that was better. Equal maybe, but this is the mountain top.
Access isn't easy, depending on where you're coming from of course, it's a hike, and although parking is not as impossible down at Lodge (which I don't like much anyway), it's typically not easy either. You can cheat, and park in the medical building lot on the corner, but if we all do that, then it won't be...
Read moreBaked Bar is an absolute hidden gem! The atmosphere is so cozy and feels like a real neighborhood joint. The staff goes above and beyond and all seem to be like one big family - I wouldn’t be able to tell you who owns the place versus works there they all give 100%!
Their pastries are out of this world and all for a reasonable price! I brought a loaf of the chocolate hazelnut babka (only $8!) as a housewarming gift and I still hear from my friends how amazing it was. Every pastry, muffin, and coffee I’ve tried they’ve nailed it in taste, texture, and what you can tell is top quality ingredients. They also have the best selection of both vegan and gluten free options of any bakery I’ve been to.
Their bread loafs are also unreal! I’ve been purchasing their gluten free sourdough half loaf on a weekly basis now and it has got to be the best gluten free sourdough I’ve ever tasted!
