JR's Barbeque — Restaurant in Culver City

This is hands down the only place I will ever go to satisfy my crave on 'baby back ribs' until I happen across some place better.

So the next smokehouse in the hood that feels like blowing my mind and making my mouth cum like the guys at JR's never fail to do please stand up and let me give you a shot.

Short of of any place in Texas and a BBQ at my friend Tyrone's house (he calls it 'crib') I can’t say that I am that we'll versed in the B-B-Q life of pork-backs and razorskins...

but now that it's right around the corner, past a local blood hangout (7th st Boyz) and down the road past another blood hangout (La Cienga Boyz) I wouldn't be surprised if that changes.

JR' s is seriousy that good and if you don't believe me when you walk in for the first time listen to the other patrons of the restaurant and then as they are loudly barking and chewing.

The first time my girlfriend and i walked in she about hit me across the face and dragged me to church as we neared the front entrance to JR's and heard what sounded like an adult movie being filmed.

Even i was thrown through a loop while I struggled to regain my girlfriends distraught composer by trying to beat a little logic into her with my soothing voice and ever cool delivery of the words i sent to her.

When i finally got her to agree to take a quick look inside and see if this was in fact the place to fill up our mouths with beef we were both light headed. From the sigh of relief that weezed through our pack a day lungs and onto the patrons of the moment and their mountains of beef in front of them. They paid us no mind as all attention was on those mountainous plates and the noises the induced out of the mouths of everyone peering down and feasting on one.

My family was really craving bqq, on a Sunday. So we came here to JR's but let me tell you this incident will never make us go there again.

We walked in and there was this older black man just sitting and staring into blank space. We asked if we can sit and he responded yeah go ahead, sit anywhere. So we sat. He came in and gave us the menu, he said anything to drink...but before we can say anything he was like "oh! I forgot my pen". He came back 5 minutes later and was like " you ready to order", we said "yeah, we would like to order the family meal... and the drinks" immediately he interrupted and said "I FORGOT MY PEN again". So he left again.

We were kinda annoyed at this point but we were like it happens, you know. So then he came back with a pen and took the drink order plus our actual order. We ordered 1 COKE (we said LIGHT ICE) , 2 Ice teas and 1 water...and our actual meal. Tell me why? This guy came back with our drinks and the COKE was filled with ICE...like the WHOLE THING was ice and hardly any coke. It was clear HE WAS DOING THIS ON PURPOSE. we specifically said light ice on the coke ! And he gave us the whole thing with ice. We told him we ordered the coke with light ice and he said " MY BAD" and took it to the back. He came back and SLAMMED THE COKE to the TABLE. We just couldn't take his disrespectfulness anymore. He ACTUALLY SLAMMED THE COKE on the table and made this ( look at the picture below). My parents were in complete shock and walked out, but not before HE CHARGED US for the DRINKS that we didn't even drink.

Point of the story....DON'T come here unless you want to be disrespected and...

Sadly I will never return to this establishment ever again, the very first time I visited the food was great I ordered the rib dinner & the three meat combo it was okay, 2nd time the quantity wasn't consistent as and it was a bit dry. Initially I said that I would never return but I wanted BBQ so I took a risk and I paid for it.I ordered the rib tip dinner again & the 3 meat combo. All of the meat was beyond dry basically a choking hazard. When I called the owner with my concerns he told me to bring it back. Once I arrived I walk inside and the owner didn't greet me he just takes my bag of food open both containers and stare at me as if I committed a crime, I ate one of my rib tips and mother ate one from her plate the only thing that was missing was our bread that I left at home.

I expected more from Jr's BBQ especially since the owner who has always been so polite and cordial but when I had a concern he acted as if I committed a crime by his attitude.

The meat should be moist and tender falling off the bone not stringy and dry, the beef ribs aren't at all smoked the chicken is so dry you'd end...
