Ellie's Deli — Restaurant in Cumberland

If I had an option of 0 stars I would pick it. First off let me say I have loved Ellie's deli since as long as I can remember. I decided to go get some sandwiches with my daughter who offered to pay for our drinks because I was paying for our food. The same lady who took our order brought our food up to the counter and we told her two times that the drinks were separate. She then after us telling her rung the drinks up with the first sandwich and I said we need the drinks separate and she literally started being obnoxiously rude and downright ignorant to us. I calmly said I'm buying the food and my daughter is getting the drinks and she looked at my daughter and said you do know the two sprites are 3 something a piece and my daughter said ok. Then she said really loud credit or debit. A line is behind us and embarrassing it was. So my daughter got loud after getting tired of the blatant disrespect. The employee then yelled do you want a manager? I said yes finally. Continuing to yell as she walked 6 feet to tell the owner to come up and she too was a little rude at first and I said look all I wanted to do was have the drinks separate so she could pay and then I would pay for the food. I said look, this was one of my favorite places in Cumberland until now and can I just pay for my food and I'll go. She looked surprisingly disappointed after I said that like as if she realized we weren't the problem. I haven't been that caught off guard in a long time . I'm still thinking about it more than 12 hours later. It's sad that people treat people this way and they shouldn't wonder why the world is chaotic these days. You never know what someone is going through. I told her to tell her employee to be nicer.. Truly...

I love Ellies Deli Italian hoagies. They are excellent. So fresh and delicious. Almost like a best kept secret. Ive aways gone into Ellies deli to buy their homemade chicken salad which I dearly love. Then one day I heard another customer order an Italian Sub with everything plus seasoned lettuce I thought what? They have Italian subs? Seasoned lettuce?? Yep the board said Italian hoagies. But i never thought to try one...so that day I ordered 3 for the family. Everyone raved about them. Now I will never buy another hoagie anywhere. I also asked the gal, when I spotted the racks of fresh rolls, and yes, she said the deli bakes their own hoagie rolls. Of course they do and I was...

Last two times we've ordered:

Willing to overlook the mushy sweet pickled peppers (bad batch? Not a deal breaker) Bread not as crusty as is used to be (shorter bake time?) Much thinner slices (less turkey per sandwich = more profits?) Less provolone 😕 WAY soggier than ever before (not drying the lettuce properly?)

I figure shrinkflation combined with younger employees who don't care. Saddens me, but I won't...
