This was the best place I visited while visiting the area last week and I only got to go by chance due to my train being delayed 4 hours. So after spending my birthday with friends in Cumberland I was suppose to take a 9:30 AM Amtrak back to Baltimore. However when I got to the station I found out my train was delayed until 1:30 PM and there was no other train heading to Baltimore. A bit upset with his long delay (and the horrible birthday dinner I had at Wild Things the night before) decided to check out the city. I found this place just one block from the train station, so a very chose walk and decided to try it out. I was really impressed as I love old time diners and soda jerk places and wanted to give it a try. I was super excited to see the sherbet of the week was Blue Raspberry, which is my favorite flavor. While I have had Blue Raspberry ICEE and shaved ice, never had a sherbet one before, so that was a nice birthday threat when they upgraded the size of my sherbet for free since it was my birthday. I ordered a combo meal which came with a lot, a nice warm potato and bacon soup, chicken roast sandwich, chips, a pickle, and the sherbet. I also got a classic root beer in a frosted mug which was just perfect. I really wish I had more time in Cumberland as there was a lot of milkshake, sundae, ice cream soda, and banana split options I wanted to try. I wanted to thank the folks when my meal was done but they were so busy I barely got to say a word, but I do want them to know this has been one of the best birthday lunches I have had in a long time. If I ever do go back to Cumberland this will be the first...

Review #1- Need to update their website and Google with their hours because they are apparently only open until 3pm which can only be found on their Facebook page and window. Had to come back earlier the next day for this reason. This could be an issue for customers, customer retention, travelers, etc.

Ordered their pesto tomato cheese panini, which is not a panini at all. It is more like a thick tortilla that was browned on a griddle, which was a bit disappointing but tasty. Their cheesy potato soup had a great home made taste. Their vanilla hot fudge sundae was good. Lunch came with a pickle and chips.

I really appreciate their flavor of the day/week approach.

Very cute place with a convenient walk up to order window. They had a heater out front which was great in the 36 degree weather.

Review #2- Got their Tree Hugger sandwich and it was dripping wet, soaked through the wrapper, and made the wrap so soggy and inedible. Never going to order a sandwich here again. Their chips have shortening which isn’t vegetarian friendly. I lowered my original review stars of four to three.

Review #3-Got their pesto tomato cheese panini again because it was good the first time. This time is was still really good but sooooooo wet and messy. They really like wet sandwiches here. Lol. Their ice cream is always amazing. Friendly staff too. Switched rating...

So my bestest invited the family to come and visit on our way back to Rockville Friday the 25th. Son 1 ordered bacon eggs and cheese with toast. He devoured it so I can only assume it was good or he was hungry. I believe it was both. Daughter ordered I believe the ultimate grilled cheese. Which was delicious never thought to add mushrooms to my grilled cheese and I probably will from now on. Fiancé ordered fries to go with his adult shake. Son 2 grilled cheese and for myself panini of the week. All I can remember is the roasted red bell pepper the crunchiness of the flatbread and the deliciousness of the entire sandwich with the perfect amount of meat cheese pepper flatbread ratio. I would definitely make the drive every so often just to have a panini. Oh and let’s talk about the crispness and soft fluffiness of the fries. Also had a strawberry banana smoothie. Now coming from Wisconsin custard is a fave but I didn’t try it this time around. But as I said I’ll be back. Kudos to the chef that day! A nice break from...

We've been visiting here since the original owners opened it in 2002. When we met her, I enjoyed the story of the 1940's style Creamery being a dream come true for this former health administrator. In addition to the delicious, creamy frozen custard, she offered homemade soups and sandwiches. There was a working juke box with all the "oldies", a soda fountain counter and some small tables and booths. Very cozy, cute place. The business and building were sold in 2015 and some changes were made. There are more home baked goods, more deli options, upstairs seating and still lots of frozen custard. The juke box is long gone but we are happy Queen City Creamery is still thriving. Never miss an opportunity to visit.

I locked up my bike right outside of the building on a gate, intending to just be a few minutes getting some ice cream, when my bike lock broke right after I had locked it up. A digit of the combination lock fell off, and the lock would not turn. I asked someone passing by if they had any bolt cutters and I guess he told somebody who worked there. I was originally planning to eat some ice cream and go get some bolt cutters, but the employee insisted on helping me and got some pliers and managed to move the part that was stuck. I was then on my way again. Of course this is not a bike shop, so I will review the ice cream. The ice cream is excellent and so is the service and that's why this place gets five stars.
