I am new to the area, but not new to giving reviews. I'm a foodie and I like to review restaurants as a hobby, mainly doing it just for fun. But I enjoy giving honest feedback!
The outside and the inside of Kani is gorgeous! Initially walking in, I was greeted right away and asked if I wanted Habachi or Dine-In. I opted for a dine-in experience, as it give me more freedom to do this review a little bit more stealthily.
One thing I would like to note: There was an odd aroma in the air when I was taken to the dining area. I am not sure if it was a cleaning agent lingering or something else, but it brought a funk to the air. I overlooked it though, as they seemed to be going through a slower period with customers and I assumed it must mean they were cleaning up after a rush. I was one of only two or three tables being filled at the time.
My server was quick to give me menus and ask me what I would like to drink. I asked for a water while looking over the menus thoroughly. They have a pretty great selection of cuisine! Most of it did seem a little high in pricing, so it set the bar high for the quality I was to expect.
I ordered their version of a Long Island Iced Tea, as well as a rice with vegetables and a California Crunch sushi roll.
The tea was SPOT ON! Perfectly made without being too strong or too weak for my personal taste!đ Though, compared to other Long Island Iced Tea cocktails I have had at other restaurants, it was not as strong for it's price. Again, if I am paying a high dollar amount, I would hope that the quality would match or supercede my expectations. While it fit my personal preference in strength, it may not fit the preference of others who regularly have a cocktail with their meal, (especially for almost being $10 by itself).
The sushi was was SUPERB! I could tell sushi was definitely their forte!! If you are looking for quality sushi rolls, then this is definitely a place to consider! For it's price, it matched it's quality. I can't say it is the best I've had, but it was still up their in the top tier with some of the greatests I've indulged in at other places. Their twist on a classic was delicious, for sure!
The rice with vegetables is one I tend to get at most Habachi places. You can really tell how well an Asian restaurant operates by their quality of rice. If it doesn't stick together, needs soy sauce, and/or it isn't able to be eaten easily with chop sticks, then it is not good rice. Though, that wasn't the case here! The rice stuck together well enough to eat with chopsticks, (but it wasn't the stickiest I've ever encountered). The veggies were cooked all the way through. I did not need any type of sauce with it either, (though they did offer it).
My waiter came to me often, checking my drink and asking me if I needed anything. The service was extremely good! He was a very nice and polite young man, so I tried to tip him well.
As if I wasn't full enough at the end, they also brought me some rainbow sherbet. It was small, but unexpected and delicious! My check came to me and it was a high ticket, but I knew it would be by seeing menu prices beforehand. I spent close to $40 just by myself on everything I've listed.
Overall, my experience was pleasant and I enjoyed the food as well as the service. I would definitely come back with friends and family to try their Habachi side next time!
8/10, would recommend! Don't overlook Kani House! Try it for yourself; I don't believe you...
Read moreManagement should be more considerate here especially with the prices we pay and time having to wait. I was never brought my meal and along with my meal I ordered a soup and salad (which everyone knows it doesnât cost much to make broth and give iceberg lettuce) the mngr said it was compensated. It was embarrassing because everyone orders openly for everyone to know and they knew because when she tried to bring it when everyone was finished I had to politely tell her I didnât want it when others knew I never received my meal and because and were feeling bad for me.They turn the tables immediately when everyone is finishing and I would have been rushed. Along with that embarrassment, because she did embarrass me whenIâm sitting there my husband tried to share his meal with(they charge for that as well) I didnât accept because I didnât want to take from his meal. If I were management I would have applied a 20% discount to the bill or offered a meal on the next visit. Itâs common sense to know when your wrong and charging high prices to properly care for customers when not only did you embarrass them but also never gave them their food. I did ask for a discount but was told she removed your soup and salad.. i have been to a local restaurants that have been more caring for forgetting a drink vs. an entire meal that which there is triple the money. Service and management I guess just nowadays donât care and itâs incredibly disappointing when trying to give them business knowing itâs been hard for them. Care should be given both ways, we still tipped the cook $20 and the waitress $10 for a $65 dollar meal which was way more then what they thought was a forgivable amount of a few dollars. Everyone knows Karma and so with that I leave my review. Look at all the most recent reviews before choosing a nice and...
Read moreSo very rare do I say anything negative. On September 4 2018 I went to lunch with my best friend. I have been allergic to eggs my entire life. So ordering lunch I always emphasize egg allergy. Then most times they send the rice to b fried in the back. This day we told them allergic to eggs. This was a new chef never seen him before. So he begins to cook my shrimp hibachi, fried rice for lunch. Anyhow Im busy talking with my friend. I eat the salad he then place my fried rice on my plate ,first fork it needed a little more seasoning so I added to my taste still needed something added more . After eatining 2 forks full I found egg the size of my finger nail in the rice. I gave it to the chef he runs to the back to get fresh bowl. I ate my lunch and headed back to work. I started having a severe stomach ache and after 4 visits to the restroom I started breaking out into a sweat and my throat started to close up on me. My manager saw me and said I should be driven to the hospital. I was rushed to the ER was seen immediately after they were aware of the situation. Not only were my eyes swollen, dehydrated, sweating and trying to clear my air ways. I was given an EpiPen in my right leg. Fluids and a flush I was asleep immediately and awaken 4-5 hours later. I said I was ok to go home. I called the restaurant as I was about to leave. They said they were sorry and would pay the hospital bill. The scariest moment in my life. Not knowing what to expect. Prayed and thanked God for yet another miracle. For everyone with food allergy. Be very careful ordering...
