My husband and I visited Keystone Escape Rooms last weekend as our first escape room experience. I've heard and read a lot about escape rooms and was very excited to find one so close to home. All in all, Mark was AMAZING! He was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful.
We chose the "Watson's Revenge" room and it was sooo much fun and a very clever room. I will say it was difficult with it just being us two. Because of COVID safety procedures, you are now only playing with the people you came with (which i really appreciated). They also have you use hand sanitizer before entering and after exiting the room, and gloves are available.
I'm so glad we had our first escape room experience here because Mark was a true "Game Master". He followed our game closely and knew just when we needed a little extra help. He managed to let us play the game and be challenged, but not let it get to the point of us become disinterested by frustration in the game. All his clues were perfectly timed.
It was literally so much fun that the next day we decided to book another game - the "Gameland" room. Again - so much fun and challenging as well! It was my personal favorite of the two (as i am a board-game lover), but both these rooms were exceptional!
If you haven't already been, this is just a great time to go! We were so in need of a fun, new experience during this pandemic. This did not...
Read moreI’ve done over 30 escape rooms across the country and, unfortunately, Gameland was among the worst clue designs as other reviewers noted. I believe you’ll have a good time if you’ve never played a good escape room (there aren’t many around here) where the clues actually lead you through intuitively, and if you don’t mind asking for help constantly or you’re good at brute force smashing through lock combos (gaming the game is possible but not fun). We received around 8 clues, which is awful for an advanced player, and were told we did better than most. It isn’t that the clues are difficult to solve, but they’re random; like taking 3 random letters and converting them on an unrelated board with no cue. Maybe 2 clues actually flowed. All but the first 2 are entirely linear, so everyone stops until it’s worked out. We were also thrown off by having to forcefully open things that don’t usually appear to open; typically a no-no in an escape room where they warn you to not force or pull anything off of the wall. The decor and multi-room design were nice (I prefer for hung items you have to interact with to be lower though). I have hope that maybe the other rooms play better, but I don’t want to spend so much money...

I have never done an escape room before so this being my first one was definitely not a disappointment.
My husband and I took our mothers here for Mother's Day. They both enjoy Sherlock Holmes so we did the Sherlock Holmes themed escape room.
Only two people in our group have ever done an escape room before.
We were given hints when the guy on the other side could tell we were on the right track and just needed to be pointed in the right direction to confirm our suspicions. I did not feel like hints were just giving to us and I did not feel as though we weren't helped at all. It was the perfect amount of support.
I made our reservation online which was super easy. We arrived a little early and they were ready for us. We immediately told the rules and taken to our room.
Two people in our group who have done escape rooms before said they have never been in an escape room like that before. I do not want to specifically say what was different but it was good. Made it very more secretive and mysterious.
They have some other themed rooms like the Game Escape Room that I am really looking forward to going...
