Sep 2024 Update: Staff was able to make sure that the tteokbokki was not dry but saucy like how it is as a Korean street food, and the fried chicken wings was nice, hot and crispy as they should be. I have resigned to the fact that they are not going to bring back the big juicy drumsticks š like the ones that are still available in Koreanā¦therefore I did remove my previous negative review since they had made improvements over time on other aspects of the business.
July 2024 Update: Friends wanted to eat Korean Fried Chicken, so been back to this venue. No more rude staff, but still no big juicy drumsticks. Attaching pics updated as of 07/07/2024 to this review.
Korean fried chicken is my favorite food every time I go to Seoul, Korea. Outside Korea, Iāve been searching for fried chicken that tastes anything like what I had in Korea and this place is probably the closest to the taste in terms of the batter and quality. It is crispy, fresh and hot out of the fryer and juicy and tender on the inside. I also like the fact that it is made fresh with each order and not sitting in some warming oven, dried and re-fried. Also, I like that it has the option of ordering all drumsticks, just like they do in Koreaā¦most places outside Korea doing Korean fried chicken only do half or whole chicken, which I hate since I very much prefer the drumsticks only. It beats even the Korean fried chicken of Korean restaurants outside of Korea. It is that good. The only thing if I had to nitpick is the size of the chicken drumsticks in Seoul are bigger and a complementary coke/sprite is usually included with the order in Korea. I did only eat it on this last Sunday for the 1st time here in the Apple Park location. We kind of stumbled upon it accidentally whilst looking for a place for lunch when most restaurants in the area were taking a mid day break. Sure glad I found this place. Donāt think there is going to be any other place that would be better than this place around the area for now. If you are looking for authentic Korean fried chicken, this is it. But donāt expect any type of service. It is more like a fast food place vs a restaurant setup. For me, the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy review of October 31, 2024 I posted on Yelp still remains the same at 5-STARS!
I still drive from SF to Apple Park 1-3x month just to go to this bb.q location because I LOVE THE SERVICE, THE STAFF, THE FOOD QUALITY, THE AMBIANCE AND CLEANLINESS OF THE ESTABLISHMENT. Jenn has taken over for Talmud as cashier and was a very seamless transition - same quality of service!
Yelp Review: This is a long-awaited review. I first tried bb.Q in Las Vegas. I live in SF and have since tried the Bay Area bb.Q's in Sunnyvale, Apple Park/Cupertino, the newly opened San Bruno location and the bb.Q in Hawaii.
My rating scale is #1-Cupertino, #2-Las Vegas, #3-Sunnyvale, #4- San Bruno, #5-Hawaii. bb.Q is a franchise so don't expect the quality and service to be exactly the same. They are close but you can tell which ones put in the extra effort which makes for the varying experience.
Living in SF the 45-minute drive to the Apple Park location is worth the 50 miles. Luckily my Honda Insight gets 51 miles/gal so we make the trek maybe once a week. We've tried all 3 chicken types; Whole Chicken, Boneless, Wings and 9 of the 14 sauces. Our favorite by far is the #1-Honey Garlic and #2-Secret Sauce. An added drawl for us is bb.Q's fries are the best we've ever had - temp hot and crispy!
Apple Parks location is sizeable, layout great, clean, AC is Cold and customer service is #1. Manager "Jin" and cashier "Talmud" always greet with a smile and provide above excellent service. Our go to menu is the Lunch Boneless Combo Mon-Fri 11am-3pm excluding Holidays. How can you beat a 6-piece Boneless Chicken, Fries, Soda and a Special Bonus of 2 gyoza's! No other bb.Q we've found gives the bonus! It's a franchise so the franchisee decides whether to give a bonus or not. The bonus is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food quality is excellent here, there is no doubt about that but the service here is lacking. Friday nights are the worst time to come here because itāll take about 40+ minutes or so for your order to be done. The first time I came here there wasnāt a long wait, it was a Saturday night and it took 20 minutes only and our order was correct so it was good. Second time we came here was a Friday night and our order took almost 50 minutes and they gave us an estimated time of 30minutes. My friend asked for 2 ranches and said weāll pay for them and the lady said they already come with them but Iāll give you extra. But once we got home we seen that she gave us 4 containers of pickled daikon š¤¦š»āāļø the third time we went was last Friday night and the wait was 30 minutes but we did order 30 min before closing. We got our ranches this time but she got my order wrong. I ordered spicy crispy original but I received just the original crispy. And my pieces of chicken were a lot smaller than my friends who ordered the soy garlic. I would say that this place should work On their timing, communication and consistency in food quality. I would still come here and recommend this place but with a warning ā ļø. At first I didnāt get why this place had a low rating but now I...
