We came to Ping’s Bistro for a weekend lunch and were completely blown away by the vibrant flavors, beautiful presentation, and high-quality ingredients. The restaurant offers authentic Yunnan and Dai-style Chinese cuisine — dishes that are aromatic, balanced, and full of depth without being overly heavy.
We ordered a mix of dishes to share: • Dai Style Deep-Fried Pork Ribs – Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, perfectly seasoned with a hint of lemongrass. The dipping sauce was tangy and refreshing, cutting through the richness of the pork. A must-order appetizer! • Fried Rice with Boletus, Green Pepper & Beef – One of the best fried rice dishes we’ve ever had. Each grain was infused with wok hei and balanced beautifully with earthy mushrooms and mild heat from green peppers. • Stir-Fried Chayote Leaves with Dried Chili Peppers – Fresh, tender greens stir-fried to perfection with garlic and dried chili. Simple, clean, and full of natural flavor. • Signature Grilled Fish with Lemongrass – The star of the meal. The fish was grilled to a beautiful char and topped with fragrant herbs, garlic, lime, and chili. The lemongrass aroma elevated the dish to another level — spicy, citrusy, and deeply satisfying. • Sautéed Black Termite Mushroom, Maitake, Cordyceps Flower Velvet – A rare treat! The mix of mushrooms gave layers of texture — chewy, soft, and crisp — with an earthy umami flavor. • Country-Style Sautéed Pork with Eggs and Black Fungus – Homestyle comfort at its best. The soft eggs and wood ear mushrooms soaked up the sauce beautifully, creating a rich, balanced bite every time. • Sautéed Beef with Pickled Mustard – Tender beef slices paired with tangy mustard greens and red peppers — a bold yet harmonious flavor combination.
Every dish came out piping hot, beautifully plated, and perfectly portioned for sharing. The flavors were authentic, and the seasoning was carefully balanced — not too oily or salty.
The restaurant’s atmosphere is calm and modern, with large windows that bring in plenty of natural light. Service was attentive and efficient; our server helped us select dishes according to our spice preference (“less spicy”) and ensured we had a smooth dining experience.
For anyone who loves discovering regional Chinese cuisines beyond the usual Cantonese or Sichuan offerings, Ping’s Bistro is a must-visit. It’s perfect for group dining or a casual yet refined family meal.
Favorite dishes: Dai-style pork ribs, grilled lemongrass fish, boletus beef fried rice.
Spice level: Adjustable – just ask for “less spicy” if you prefer mild.
Portion: Generous and great for sharing.
Highly recommended — this place deserves way more attention in Cupertino’s...
Read moreIf you order fish soup, remember to let it boil ( cook) for 8 minutes. If you forget to boil it for 8 minutes, it will not be fully cooked. My Dad wanted to try this place because he passed by it in the past and saw many customers. I did not know there are many vegetarian dishes ( there are some meat dishes but not many). Everything is in Chinese ( so I assume it is only for Chinese readers). Although the food was good, it was ( to be honest) a rip off. The only good thing ( my Dad ordered was the spinach/seaweed). It had a pleasant, nice taste and gave you plenty ( for 10 dollars). But the sea bass soup was 52 dollars and I did not see very much meat (not big...the fish) and soup tasted very average ( I had better soup at other restaurants). The waiter did not give us hardly any green onion so my Dad asked for more to put in the soup and he did give it to him. But still lack flavour and just not that great ( for 52 dollars, I expect good soup). Also, the mushroom fried rice was rip off. It costed 39 dollars for hardly any mushroom. The mushroom was suppose to be expensive but hardly any in the rice. Although the rice tasted good ( it had pork and some pork fat which gave it a nice flavour) but not much veggie in it. It was basically fried rice with pork and suppose to have more mushroom but had very little. Instead it had bean ( or lima bean?) which was Ok but nothing great. Since they were so stingy ( for 39 dollars) with the beans or very little veggie ( or no vegetables) I dont think it was worth the price. I have had much better fried rice at other restaurants better taste or more veggie or more meat or other. But it seems they only put beans and rice and very little mushroom (and over priced). That is why I gave so little on the rating. They did not even give hot tea ( only hot water), we had to ask for tea. Some waiters are nice but some are not very good. The waiter claim that I ordered hot water. He never asked me, just assumed. This restaurant needs to at least provide tea for people who order 50 dollar of fish soup. It just feels kind of cheap for the prices they charge and hardly give you food. Only the spinach...

FOOD every dish is CRAZY good. i highly recommend the braised wild mushrooms with pork/家烧野生菌. it has a lot of flavor and the mushroom & pork is tender. i also recommend the Fried Rice with Boletus Edulis & Ham/小青菜杂菌云腿炒饭. it has a very subtle smoky flavor that works well with the mushrooms. the Dai Style Deep-Fried Pork Ribs w/Tomato/傣味香茅排骨 was also pretty good— crunchy on outside and tender on inside but it is lowkey hard to completely clean the bone. desserts i recommend are Shepherd’s Purse Glutinous Rice Cakes/野荠菜糍粑, Osmanthus Honey Milk Jelly/桂花蜜酒酿冰奶冻, and Rose Ice Jelly with litchi/云南墨红玫瑰荔枝冰粉. i especially recommend the milk jelly since i think it has a very unique rich milky/honey flavor. the shepherds purse glutinous rice was also very good— crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. the rose ice jelly is good if you want a refreshing cold dessert.
SERVICE service is good and fast. i HIGHLY recommend coming right at opening (5pm) since this is a very popular choice. wait time can get up to over an hour if your party is big. no reservations unless you are party of 8 and above. order through qr code and they will confirm what you order and then serve. food is served relatively quick (15-20mins for first dish to come), then got slower when serving the rest of our dishes
ATMOSPHERE i love the decoration of pings bistro. feels clean and modern. definitely need more bathroom stalls— not enough for a full restaurant. super busy inside so it can be hard to hear. there also is a TIME LIMIT for how long...
