Can you stay healthy drinking fruit teas? That's Shu Shia's claim to fame.
The focus here is on healthy, high quality, and natural fruit teas. You'll be forgiven if you thought they are an at leisure female clothing brand looking at their marketing.
Shu Shia is yet another Chinese chain that's been around for over a decade and is finally coming to the States (this is their first US location).
Their drinks are super light, natural, and fruity. The prices are high but so is the quality. From avocado smoothies with chia seeds, to durian, to yunnan lemon refreshers, you'll be sure to find something to suit your tastebuds.
Because they just opened, be prepared to wait. The parking lot is also always full so plan accordingly.
The staff is incredibly friendly and despite being overwhelmed, they are keeping up in good spirits. The blenders seem to be the current bottleneck of production.
The establishment itself is nice with lots of natural wood tones and greenery. That being said, you'll be hard-pressed to actually be able to enjoy it at the moment as the line for drinks takes up most of the store's interior space.
Overall, it's wonderful to have more options for fruit teas with a focus on healthy and natural...
Read moreCHICHA San Chen and Ume are still my favorite boba chains, but Shu Shia and Molly Tea have enough interesting options that I've added them to the rotation. I'm still slowly going through the menu and the drinks are uneven so I am only giving them a 3 for now. (I went through the entire CSC menu before taking the "favorite" label from Ume and handing the crown to CSC.)
The smoothie texture here is way too icy and not creamy. They are more like Quickly slushies in texture. But the oat popping boba is tasty and super fun. The "collagen jelly" (so... regular animal-based gelatin?) is too squishy. Jell & Chill's gelatin desserts are better.
Even 30% sweetness is too sweet. I can only drink the drinks you can order without sugar (0%). The toppings such as the boba or yogurt add enough extra sweetness to the 0% drinks that they're a balanced amount of sweetness without being cloying.
Language barrier is a bit of an issue here.
Also, if you stop taking orders at 8pm, change your hours to 8pm. IDC if I can still pick up an order at 8:30; IMHO if I can't walk in and order something between 8 and 8:30,...
Read moreWhat a gem of a Chinese drinks place! I could only with we had something like this in Chicago. My Chinese sister-in-law said that the only branch of this in the US is here in San Jose. This place was jampacked on a Friday afternoon and is the only milk tea type of place I've ever been to wherein we had to wait about 30 minutes for our drinks to be finished! Customers and workers are mostly East Asian. Their signature avocado smoothie with chia seed and signature golden durian smoothie are absolute standouts and top tier when compared to other milk teas you can ever get in the whole USA. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone and to those who are squeamish about durian, you might just learn to love the fruit after trying out their durian drinks here! Just be prepared to wait! Shu Shia, please open more stores in the US! NY and Chicago would be...
