I am a long time fan of this place ever since they opened earlier this year. A lot of people give low rating and complain about the service, but what do you expect from the server when there’s a hoard of people waiting and everyone is pestering the staff with the same question “how long is the wait?” over and over again, night after night. I can see any sane person losing it after a while. Go on a weeknight when they are not busy or in between hours if you want service and you will see they are quite friendly.
Now on to the food, it’s as authentic as you can get and the variety is the best out of all the skewer places in the area. They serve some weird stuff like internal organs, but they can be quite delicious like the intestine. If you are adventurous enough, give it a try, you will like it. And it you don’t, it only a few dollars, so really win-win. Of course, the lamb skewer is the main show, my all time fav from my childhood, with cumin and lots of spice, so amazing! They also have an array of small cold dishes and regular food, the won-ton soup goes well with all the skewers.
I can ramble on and on about how amazing this place is, but you should give a try yourself and be the judge. Just be lenient when rating solely on service, they are human too and catering to so many people...
Read moreAuthentic northeastern China BBQ - according to my Chinese friend. I was there on Friday lunch and it was not busy. I can see why they get bad service review - especially during dinner when they are very busy. We had no issue during the non busy lunch hour.
About the food. They offer variety of skewed BBQ items - good combination of meat and vegetable. They flavored with spice such as cumin, red pepper and etc. If you don’t like spices you should not try this place. I ordered beef, squid, green bean, and eggplants. They are flavored with the same spice and grilled - served on a tray. If you order more items, they may just get the skewers and put these on your tray. Just don’t be surprised ^_^ One way to order is to order a plain egg fried rice. Then order meat and vegetable to eat with it.
The service is good. It looks like it is a ma-and-pa shop with relatives helping out. So I don’t expect them to be professional. The are tentative once you sit at the table. They offers cold water in a glass reusable bottle for you. My mom won’t drink this, I know. So noted.
Overall, we had a good experiences at this place and will definitely go back here to try other...
Read moreThere's nothing really wrong with the food here--it's totally fine. Service, however, is horrendous. And I don't mean just bad, but straight out of a movie. Ever see a customer get yelled at for not leaving the amount of tip the waiter wanted? The tip is completely up to the customer. The waiter then decides to say that a minimum of 10% "is the law here." Sorry but there's no such law. Tip is dependent on service. No one pays tip for food--they pay tip depending on how good, or not goods, your service is. No service or bad service? No tip? Mediocre service? Maybe a little tip. Great service? Big tip! In case this is your first time in the hospitality industry, get a clue. Also, throwing things at your customer after they actually left you some tip is beyond stupid. What society did you grow up in? I feel sorry for the owners of this restaurant who have no idea that their wait staff is so completely disconnected from society and has an EQ...
