LOVE LOVE LOVE John Boy’s Texas BBQ. The Texas Twinkies have an incredible balance of smokiness, savoriness, and creaminess. They are large and filling at a great price. Try eating just one…you can’t. My next favorite is the chopped brisket. Melts in your mouth and if they sold a cologne that smelled like it I’d wear it. Didn't buy today but the pulled pork street tacos are another favorite along with their breakfast burrito selections (going back tomorrow). Across the board they offer large portions at a very reasonable price. Definitely a favorite in the Black Hills. Two suggestions 1-They sell out quickly so order ahead especially the Texas Twinkies. They have a very loyal core customer base and I’m sure will ramp up addl capacity during tourist season but gosh darn it, order early. You wont regret it. 2-They do advertise that they are a bring your own sauce establishment so plan ahead with BBQ items (and jelly if getting a plated breakfast). Read moreMy son and I decided to turn around and give this place a try after reading the reviews, and we’re so glad we did! The food is absolutely mouthwatering—perfectly tender and bursting with flavor. They offer extra helpings of their coleslaw and potato salad for purchase, and trust me, you’ll want seconds because they’re just as delicious! Speaking of delicious, don’t miss out on the Texas Twinkies—they’re a must-try! The customer service was outstanding, and the owners were incredibly friendly and personable. We’ll definitely be coming back every time we’re in town. They offer both dine-in and takeout until they sell out for the day. The restaurant operates in a shared space with a gift shop called The Shed, which is located behind a greenhouse. Kudos to the owners for delivering such an exceptional experience. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have their own standalone location in the near future! PS They support our military by offering a military...

My visit to John Boy's Texas BBQ at the Eagles Landing Lodge was nothing short of spectacular. The drive out of town was totally worth it once we indulged in their brisket sandwich, brisket nachos, and pulled pork nachos. Each bite was an explosion of flavors, perfectly complemented by the rich smoke-infused essence in every meaty morsel.
The nachos were generously loaded with toppings, including delightful chunks of avocado and fresh cilantro, adding a refreshing twist to the savory delight. The texture and flavor of the meats were impeccable, leaving us craving more with every bite.
If you're searching for authentic Texas BBQ with a touch of perfection, look no further than John Boy's. An absolute gem that Custer is lucky to have!
Cheers to unforgettable BBQ...
