Claw Antler & Hide Co — Local services in Custer

In 2016, my family (from Pennsylvania) went out west for a cousin's wedding and my father found Claw Antler & Hide Co. Two years later, in 2018, we returned for another wedding and my father brought me along to this "wonderful shop that you would love." I bought a bison ball bag, some skulls, some assorted knick-knacks, and my wife got some provisions for class (she teaches in the Biology department at a North Carolina university and got a few leg bones and turtle shells). When my friend told me he was defending his dissertation for his PhD in March, I wanted to get him something special. Steve has always loved wolves (growing up in Michigan, with a family lake house in the UP), and while they were sold out of wolf skulls, I was able to order a wolf claw, a bison hump bone and (that which he has coveted the most of mine), a bison ball bag. My only regret was that I could not visit the store again in person. When we were there in 2018, we talked at length with the proprietor and a local artisan who made grill tools out of antler and steel, spent time admiring the various squirrels in canoes and jackalopes and other mounts ... the whole trip and wedding was a fine experience, but it was Claw, Antler & Hide that sticks in my mind. I have one cousin left unwed, so perhaps I'll make it back one day. Until then, from time to time, I'll look online and see what is available, and convince myself who might need a new pelt or tooth. We just received our second skull from Claw Antler & Hide, and again we are very impressed. We ordered it on a Thursday morning, and it shipped out just a few hours later. We received the skull on Saturday-- just two days after ordering it. The skull was packaged and protected well, and we were very happy with the overall state of the skull. This was actually a purchase made by/for our 7 year old, and she was beyond excited to receive such a great looking skull!
