Just had an outstanding meal at Sage Creek Grille. We arrived to dinner a little after 6:00 for dinner and were able to get a seat right away. Out waitress was great and answered a lot of questions for us as we were deciding what to try.
The local beer list is really quite impressive with a nice selection from breweries from around the Black Hills. We had a Sumer Kolch known as Beach Ball from Highway 79 Brewing and Easy Livin Summer Ale from Crow Peak Brewing. We followed this with the Walnut Bleu Cheese Bruschetta which was very good if you are a fan of blue cheese. There were six pieces of bruschetta if you are with a larger group.
We then had the soup of the day which was a creamy garlic soup with wild rice and mixed vegetables. The soup was very good, however, I did not find much of the wild rice in with the vegetables. A great starter as well.
We then split a plate of the Bourbon Street Cajun Fettuccine which was outstanding. The sauce was flavorful and rich without being too spicy. There were lots of vegetables to enjoy with the pasta and it was a very generous portion.
Overall we had great food with great service. The full team works together to make sure you get your food while it is hot and that empty plates do not sit around on the table. It was a great experience for us while we...
Read moreFood was excellent! A little pricey, but well worth it.
We ordered different entrees so we could share and taste more offerings. Dinner selections higher in price, so we chose the sandwiches instead, but delicious all the same. There was a separate wine/liquor menu, but we did not order.
Atmosphere was casual and comfortable, but the food could definitely have been from a higher end establishment. I loved the simple decor throughout using poster-size prints 1874 photos with a comparison of the same actual locations in 2020! I wish I had time to study them all!
While there, a customer was obnoxious, was asked to lower his voice, and when he did not, he was asked to leave the restaurant. The owner, who could have passed for a bouncer, handled the situation with calmness and grace,
Located in the heart of town among the other shops with street parking. Open until 9 pm. Visited during Bike Week, so additional motorcycle parking was available. Will definitely patronize this establishment again when I visit the Custer,...

We recently dined at Sage Creek Grill in Custer and left with mixed feelings. The ambiance is lovely, and the staff who served our table were friendly. The pot roast my daughter ordered was absolutely divine — rich, tender, and worth every penny. Unfortunately, my salmon dish was a letdown. The portion of salmon was small, not fully cooked, and the pasta it was served with lacked flavor. For a $30 entrée, I expected more balance and seasoning.
On a brighter note, dessert was the highlight — the spiced dumpling with sage butter pecan ice cream was one of the most delicious things we’ve ever had. Truly unforgettable!
As a former server, I also couldn’t help but notice a less-than-gracious interaction between a server and an elderly gentleman who was having an issue with his card. It was uncomfortable to watch and not in line with the otherwise warm atmosphere.
Overall, it’s a beautiful place with some standout dishes, but the inconsistencies make me unsure if...
