Food was excellent! A little pricey, but well worth it. We ordered different entrees so we could share and taste more offerings. Dinner selections higher in price, so we chose the sandwiches instead, but delicious all the same. There was a separate wine/liquor menu, but we did not order. Atmosphere was casual and comfortable, but the food could definitely have been from a higher end establishment. I loved the simple decor throughout using poster-size prints 1874 photos with a comparison of the same actual locations in 2020! I wish I had time to study them all! While there, a customer was obnoxious, was asked to lower his voice, and when he did not, he was asked to leave the restaurant. The owner, who could have passed for a bouncer, handled the situation with calmness and grace, Located in the heart of town among the other shops with street parking. Open until 9 pm. Visited during Bike Week, so additional motorcycle parking was available. Will definitely patronize this establishment again when I visit the Custer, SD area again.

So sad. My husband’s steak was fantastic! Our server was kind and attentive I picked the chicken sandwich good but such a light splatter of the key secret ingredient, boysenberry jam. Don’t order the cheesy grits as they are very dry and not cheesy. I asked for a sauce or something to make it better but it didn’t help much with what I ordered. My white wine was lukewarm vs chilled. My server didn’t offer a solution to this and stated that it just came in today with a smile. I figured dessert would satisfy my disappointment but when I put my fork in to cut the beautiful carrot cake, my fork did not cut through it and the first bite was dry. Such a bummer. I asked the server to put it between fingers to try and see if it would squish the portion of which my fork would not penetrate and sent it back. Good news for me… less calories!! Yay. The atmosphere is super and again, my hubby picked the right dish. I will try again sometime and be more careful with my selection. I know they

Eat here. You won't be disappointed. The menu isn't 12 pages deep, but they still offer an impressive array of exciting options. The difference between a good restaurant and a great restaurant is that a great restaurant has the right staff and an positive atmosphere to go with the food. As soon as we walked in the door, the hostess (Alicia? Didn't have a name tag on so sorry if the spelling is wrong) was pleasant and kind. She had a line of people,a full house, and still seemed to genuinely ask and care about how we were doing. Then, our server, Amanda, spent a fair bit of time helping us through the menu and was so patient and kind. At this point, even if the food was only so-so, it still would be a win. However, from the app (artichoke dip) to the entrée the food was delicious. Needed to be rolled out the door....generous portions.

Just had an outstanding meal at Sage Creek Grille. We arrived to dinner a little after 6:00 for dinner and were able to get a seat right away. Out waitress was great and answered a lot of questions for us as we were deciding what to try.

The local beer list is really quite impressive with a nice selection from breweries from around the Black Hills. We had a Sumer Kolch known as Beach Ball from Highway 79 Brewing and Easy Livin Summer Ale from Crow Peak Brewing. We followed this with the Walnut Bleu Cheese Bruschetta which was very good if you are a fan of blue cheese. There were six pieces of bruschetta if you are with a larger group.

We then had the soup of the day which was a creamy garlic soup with wild rice and mixed vegetables. The soup was very good, however, I did not find much of the wild rice in with the vegetables. A great starter as well.

We then split a plate of the Bourbon Street Cajun Fettuccine which was outstanding. The sauce was flavorful and rich without being too spicy. There were lots of vegetables to enjoy with the pasta and it was a very generous portion.

Overall we had great food with great service. The full team works together to make sure you get your food while it is hot and that empty plates do not sit around on the table. It was a great experience for us while we...

⭐️⭐️⭐☆☆ – Mixed Experience at Sage Creek Grill

We recently dined at Sage Creek Grill in Custer and left with mixed feelings. The ambiance is lovely, and the staff who served our table were friendly. The pot roast my daughter ordered was absolutely divine — rich, tender, and worth every penny. Unfortunately, my salmon dish was a letdown. The portion of salmon was small, not fully cooked, and the pasta it was served with lacked flavor. For a $30 entrée, I expected more balance and seasoning.

On a brighter note, dessert was the highlight — the spiced dumpling with sage butter pecan ice cream was one of the most delicious things we’ve ever had. Truly unforgettable!

As a former server, I also couldn’t help but notice a less-than-gracious interaction between a server and an elderly gentleman who was having an issue with his card. It was uncomfortable to watch and not in line with the otherwise warm atmosphere.

Overall, it’s a beautiful place with some standout dishes, but the inconsistencies make me unsure if...
