My friend and I came after work this past Wednesday for dinner and were told there was a 20 minute wait for a table so we decided to sit at the bar. While our bartender was nice, she was far from attentive and had zero sense of urgency. What she did do well was complain about the amount of servers that were on vs. the amount of guests in the restaurant and openly shared her concerns with "how she would make enough money tonight".
My friend and I both served in the past and are cognizant of section size and servers being busy: we were out to catch up so initially the delay wasn't a problem at all. After ordering calamari and it not coming out for 30 minutes, we asked the bartender about the status. She said, "I really don't know what's going on with the kitchen tonight" and disappeared to the kitchen. We then ordered soup and salad and asked for it to arrive together vs. one before the other. Our salads arrived alone and soup to follow THEN our calamari. The bartender did have the calamari removed from the bill, which was nice, but the app was completely cold and inedible. Without a manager visit, it worries me that it was never rung in, asked for "on the fly" from the kitchen and never communicated to the manager.
At this point, the meal had taken 2 and 1/2 hours for soup, salad and an app so we asked for boxes and the check which also took a long time. During this entire event, the manager on the floor and our server took extra care of the couple next to us who were clearly employees or good friends of both. They sat down after us and were done with their full entree meals and paid their check 30 minutes before us due to attentiveness. I state this because NOT ONCE did the manager come over, prior or after our problems, to check in or do any kind of recovery. This tells me that the server either never told him, he didn't care to check in, or worse both.
We were frequent guests at Leo's over the summer and never had bad food or service during any of our visits. It was a place that we chose time and time again because of the atmosphere and service. I'm not sure what has changed since then but one thing I can say is we will not be returning. It's a shame to see a once great place take such a nose dive in such a short...
Read moreI had a very disappointing visit to Leo's. The service was beyond slow - not our waitress's fault because I'm sure she had too many tables to serve -- but my guest from out of town (a dignitary from overseas) and I arrived at 7pm and were sitting for 10 minutes before the waitress came, then we had to ASK for water. Then she said she'd be back for our order AND 10 minutes later took an order for a Calamari appetizer but did not get our dinner order (even though we had seen the menu for 20 minutes at this point). She was clearly rushed and I couldn't even get out the words "we are ready to order" before she was off to another table. I hailed another waitress to please bring us some more water. The Calamari was delivered another 10 minutes later (without silverware, napkins or plates which another waitress graciously provided) at which time we ordered around 7:30pm. After an hour of waiting for our food (now 8:40pm), the waitress (from a distance) said the food would be out shortly. 4 other tables were served appetizers and entrees, and our meal still did not come out. I would have complained in person, but no one was available, and I didn't want to make a scene in front of my guest! We were at the restaurant -- in total -- for nearly 2 hours (8:50pm), and finally, I got up, threw down $20 for my greasy calamari, bread, and water -- apologized to my guest -- and left for Starbucks.
I know they were busy -- I'm sure they are under staffed -- but they should have said, "sorry we cannot serve you" then I would have been disappointed but I could have gone to another restaurant (like one of the dozen across the street or next door) and I would have come back to Leo's another day. And although my guest will be taken to many nice restaurants over his visit (pre-planned restaurants with reservations), tonight was supposed to be a regular meal after a long day, during some beautiful weather, to a nice restaurant, out on a patio -- just impromtu --- however, after this embarrassment and ultimately no dinner -- I seriously doubt anything would convince me to patronize a restaurant whose greediness for business takes precedence over...

Thoroughly impressed, incredible experience beginning to end. Discovered this place only recently and decided to try brunch out for the first time this morning with four friends. Needless to say I feel like a jerk for showing up with five people at a place like Leo's with no reservation, but the waitress kindly jumped in and told the hostess "you can seat them in my section, I'll take care of them" and she did. The evironment is amazing, clean and modern inside out. We sat outside on the patio which is very open and comfortable, modern and complete with bocce ball sand pits, giving credence to the name "social". Surprisingly the prices are not very high, I would say think around olive garden prices but the food is much higher quality. The bread and dipping oil is delicious, absolutely soft and warm inside and perfectly balanced flavor of spices in the oil for dipping. We started off with the crab cake appetizer and holy cow is it good. You have a bed of mild horseradish sauce, very subtle and not overwhelming like you would expect of horseradish, and the crab cakes them selves are two large cakes of REAL crab, not imitation...and we are talking no breading, just massive lumps of crab, super delicious. The lobster bisque was incredible, we dipped the bread in it as well and that was a great idea, it's thick, it's creamy and full of flavor. Ricotta pancakes were delicious although there was no ricotta cheese on top which I had expected, maybe it's cooked with it? Either way the candied pecans and house maple syrup were delicious, I wish there had been more than two banana slices though since the carmalized bananas were great. Carbonara was very delicious as well with the shaved parmesan topping it off perfectly. The creamy sauce brought it all together. The waitress was kind and prompt and we had just a wonderful experience here. I will be back again and again to try the rest of the delicious looking menu and to spoil myself with...
