This is an updated review. My Son and I stopped in to try the food since the pie isn’t terribly good. I had a monte cristo sandwich snd it was decent. My son had the Regency Club sandwich. It was good, but we were surprised that it was only a half sandwich. It was cut into quarters which is normal but there were only 2 quarters and not the expected 4 pieces for a whole sandwich. For $11 I was surprised. The menu does not mention that it’s only 1/2 a sandwich. The french fries were good and the onion rings were great. We again tried a piece of pie. We ordered a piece of key lime pie and dutch apple. If I had eaten the key lime pie blindfolded I would not be able to tell you what I was eating it was seriously lacking any lime flavor at all. My dutch apple was pretty good, I ordered that in hopes the crumb topping would provide some much needed texture and flavor and thankfully it did. But I honestly still think a place that’s main deal is the pie, should have some stellar pie, and they just aren’t very good
I do want to mention that the service was stellar. The staff is very nice and welcoming. You honestly couldn’t ask for better service.
Original review:Have been wanting to get pie here since they opened. Today we stopped in for pie and coffee. Our server was very friendly and greeted us quickly. Coffee was good. The pies? Hmmm. The crusts are bland (maybe add a little salt to the recipe?). The chocolate cream pie was not the best, I expected a silky pudding but filling seemed a bit chalky, whipped cream was fine. Banana cream pie was a bit better and I would say it was “okay”but more of a vanilla cream pie, since there was only 1 piece of actual banana in the slice. Kind of a brown knob of banana and not really banana slices as expected. The strawberry rhubarb pie was the best of the three, but nothing to write home about. My expectations I guess were high. I mean if you’re gonna be a pie place, I would think your pies would be amazing, the pies today fell well short of that. Still looking for an...
Read moreFirst of all, I usually love bright, white lighting — but this place was way too bright. It felt harsh and out of place. I get that they might be going for a modern vibe, but the lighting and overall décor just don’t match the atmosphere or the style of food served here, especially when compared to the House of Pies locations on Westheimer or Kirby, which feel classic and warm.
Second, our server Mitchel clearly didn’t want to be there. He was short when he spoke, acted annoyed when I asked questions, and his facial expressions, tone, and body language all came across as rude. Instead of being helpful or welcoming, I felt pressured to just rush through ordering so he would leave the table. Once he took our order, he never checked back in, and it felt like he was avoiding our table which made the whole experience uncomfortable.
It wasn’t just us, either. The table next to me had two little girls, and one of them accidentally knocked her bowl of ice cream onto the floor. The server actually looked right at the ice cream on the ground … and then just walked away without saying a single word. He never came back to clean it up, and he didn’t offer to replace it for the child. As someone who works in the service industry as a waitress and bartender, I know how I would’ve handled that situation: reassure the child, bring her a new dessert, and take care of the mess immediately. Instead, another customer ended up cleaning it up. Honestly, that was shocking to me.
On top of that, I overheard him talking to another table and openly badmouthing the restaurant — saying the owners were too lazy to update the menus. That just added to the unprofessionalism and confirmed the lack of care in the service.
On a positive note, my pork chops were delicious. I also want to mention that there was a worker named Eden who was extremely kind and helpful, which I genuinely appreciated.
Unfortunately, between the unpleasant service from our server and the overall atmosphere, that still isn’t enough to make me...
Read moreI hate to give a bad review but I do not recommend this location. My daughter and I had lunch here for the first time and we were both highly disappointed. First of all, there are two seperate doors on the right side of the building, opposite the drive through, that seem to be the entrace but are both locked. You do not know this until you walk up and try to open them. You then stand there and look confused because there are no signs to tell you where to enter, so you walk around the entire building, towards the drive through, and there it is - entrance. The prices are also high for mediocre food quality. My daughter ordered the chicken fried chicken lunch plate for $16.95 and the chicken was very thin and dry. The corn was also a strange chewy texture with zero flavor. I ordered a baked potato with the works minus bacon and a side salad with a roll. While I was on my second bite of potato, I noticed that there was bacon around it. It was as if they put it on, then noticed that they made a mistake and tried to remove it. I do not eat bacon so that completely grossed me out. I kindly asked the waitress to take it back along with the dry roll. She apologized and asked if I would like to order something else but I didn't have the time to spare. They still charged me for the side salad, that I only took a few bites from due to my disappointment. In otherwards, I was charged a little over $4 for aggravation and disappointment all while leaving there hungry. I have previously heard high reviews of The House of Pies so I've been wanting to try it. They must have been talking about the original location because again, highly disappointed. I am sure that the original location is a lot better due to the pride they take in it. I will say that this location did have good, friendly service. I also have tried their strawberry cheescake at an office event and it was...
