I talked to Cake Me Away for 2 days trying to work around my fiancé's crazy work schedule to come and do some cake tastings with him since he took a week off for my birthday so we could get someone to make our wedding cake in October.. I sent them the cake that I was wanting for my wedding and they made me believe for 2 days of talking and asking me about designs and flavors and how I wanted this and how I want that. They made me believe that it would be no problem to do for my fiancé and I. One morning, I all of a sudden get a message on FB Messenger from the employee I was talking to saying that they spoke to the owner and they wouldn't be able to do the design I wanted. OMG. They should've told me that at the very beginning or at least said something like, "I don't know if we will be able to do this design, let me find out," but they didn't. They wasted my time for 2 days leading me on and asking me questions and were very unprofessional just because they didn't have any intention on making this cake for me. They were rude and said that the fondant work was going to be expensive. Expensive for who? I never even told them how much we were spending on our wedding cake so to act like the wedding cake was going to be too expensive for us to even afford was rude beyond all. I mean, is this not a bakery? Do they not make cakes for a living??? The cake I wanted was not hard at all and I've listed it below. I have honestly made cakes my whole life and sold them to make a little extra cash and I could have easily done it as most brides do make their own cakes just to save money but I just preferred not having to make my own wedding cake. This is literally a small square sunflower cake with small square sunflower cakes all around the top one but yet, they couldn't do it and made me believe for 2 days that it would be no problem. The owner reached out to me on FB and told me that she was sorry and that the employee that I spoke with was no longer with their business but sensing she was the owner and the owner had evidently told the employee that this cake couldn't be done, she couldn't manage to tell me why this cake couldn't be...
Read moreHorrible. Unprofessional. Completely unreliable. I filled out a cake request form weeks in advance of my twins' birthday for two simple small round cakes. They emailed me back a day or two later with a detailed form to fill out and send back, which I did, along with some photos, and they said they'd get back to me shortly with a quote. Then nothing for TWO WEEKS!! I had to email THEM twice to follow up and ask about the status of my request. They replied and said they were still working on it. After two weeks of this, I thought they must be putting together a design to show me, a 3D model image or something, because what else could take that long? My request wasn't involved or complex at all. Just two kids cakes. Finally, I get a text out of nowhere, a few DAYS before their birthday with the most basic run-on text description and a ridiculous price. They'll never get our business, and we're telling family and friends to avoid them also. I don't want someone else to go through this and possibly be screwed by this stupid bakery for their special event. I went with another bakery and the cakes were less than $40 each.
Here is the text from them:

Read moreI ordered a cake here for my bf’s 30th Birthday. The cake I ordered was not visually pleasing. I wanted to keep it very minimalistic by choosing a chocolate cake and a white frosting. And I asked them to write “Happy Birthday” and followed by a red heart. The employee suggested putting a heart on the side and I said okay. But it didn’t look good how the cake came out. And the frosting was too creamy and thick and way too sweet. The cake was also too hard and the mouthfeel wasn’t appealing. I work as a food product developer so I don’t want to make any false statements here. But the sensory feel of the cake wasn’t pleasant. I also had a feeling that it was not freshly made because I had freshly baked cakes before. Not meaning to be rude but this cake cannot even be compared with a grocery store cake. I feel like they have to improve some things. Overall I have a mixed feeling for that 50$ cake.
Also, I had to wait for some minutes because the woman at the counter was attending to another customer and they were just talking longer than not needed honestly and she didn’t care to say “Please wait I will be right back with you”. Another employee came out of the baking room that’s when I had to interrupt and ask her about picking up my cake. So I think less talking and more working also helps customers to have positive feedback about the place. Too much talking is not needed when you have other customers waiting in line. Other than that I would give the other two employees some good credit for...
