GO SOMEPLACE ELSE, Terrible service, terrible management My daughter and I came in on New Year's day, 2020. Heard some good things about this place, however, my experience was truly aweful. The wait, ok, waiting about .15 minutes for the worst table they had, by the door no less. Our server didn't give her name and she was very busy, and was oversat many times. Got our order in, and when it came, my sweet fries were clearly burnt, couldn't flag our server, so I asked the hostess to get a manager, told the mgr about fries, and drinks not getting refilled. Mgr comes out with new fries, never apologized and didn't help our server by getting our drinks refilled, and all he did was give excuses as to the poor service, didn't do one thing to make our experience right in any way. I motioned this same mgr as he was yapping at the hostess stand instead of helping out getting drinks, bussing tables, etc. he finally came over to our table, I asked him his name, he said Pedro. I told him that by his making excuses, not getting our drinks to help out was not ok, I told him it made him look like he was a poor mgr, and would do himself and the restaurant a favor by helping out when it is very busy, he said nothing. When our unnamed server came back she said that our check was taken care of, then while we were leaving she hands me the check. This by far was the worst experience I have had in any restaurant in Dallas or Carrollton. It is overpriced and the service is not good, because they pack too many in, and don't have the staff to handle the crowd. I would stay away from this place, there are better not overpriced restaurants in both Carrollton, and Dallas that are wayyyy better, one last thing, this Pedro had a difficult time remembering the owner's name as it was requested as I will be giving her a call on January 2, 2020. I will be disputing my bill with my cc company...
Read moreI first visited Cindi’s Forest Ave location when I moved into the neighborhood in 2005. I’ve visited it regularly since then, primarily for breakfast and lunch. Most recently, I stopped again for breakfast. Twice during the week. I’ve always found the food to be ‘de-lish’. Their daily lunch specials (M-F) are a good value. The breadth of offerings is pretty impressive for a deli – lots of choices.
While I’ve never been disappointed with their lunch/dinner offerings, its their breakfast chow which really impresses me. Its not that they offer “special” breakfast items, it just that every breakfast item I’ve ever been served is just, well, yummy. Quality preparation. Besides the food itself, I’ve always found the staff professional & very service-oriented. Within the diner, there is a small bar too (though I’ve never had a drink there.)
For those unfamiliar with Cindi’s Forest Ave location, and are undecided, consider this: Cindi’s sits along a strip populated by perhaps two dozen other restaurants, proximate to it on Forest. Locals have a LOT of choices of eateries -- but Cindi’s parking lot is always full of cars. Restaurants only derive that kind of success by having a legion of repeat customers. Repeat customers come back because they like the place. Who can blame them!
"Cindi" (aka Ms. Vo), if you are reading this, I have two things to say to you: you have built a great business which you can be proud of. The second thing? -- Have you ever thought about expanding that building? With all those customers, a larger facility might be something to think about. Cindi’s NY Diner: A reliable place...
Read moreUpon landing in Dallas, we Googled 'Great restaurants near me' and found a gem in Cindi's downtown. Our server Becky was awesome! She was helpful, pleasant and made our dining experience top notch! Fast forward to a week later, we drove to Dallas for our flight home and decided to enjoy another experience at Cindi's. This time we went to the location by Love Field as it was the closest to our flight and the one downtown was closed anyway. Unfortunately, this was the polar opposite of an experience. As a matter of fact, we didn't even get past the hostess section to be seated. Their hours were until 8pm, it was 7:45, pretty many occupied tables and when the hosts greeted us, she asked how many, I replied 2 and she THEN said, we closed (yes, past tense) at 8:00. My husband looked at his phone to check the time and said, it's only 7:45! She replied 'well the kitchen closed'. "So... you DON'T close at 8?" She just looked at us not knowing how to proceed. "You know what, never mind." If your hours are posted until 8:00 then why turn away...
